Another newbie introducing myself.

I'm new to Civfanatics, but not to Civilization. I used to have Civ I, and I've been playing Civ III for about 6 months and PTW for 2 months now. Up until I found this site, I was just starting to play on warlord, so these games are quite a challenge for me!

I played GOTM16, but I did pretty terribly. Learned a lot, though, from lurking in the discussion board. Hopefully I'll do better with GOTM 17, seeing as it's Regent. I'm going to start on Sunday, as soon as I get home and back to my PTW CD.

Look forward to discussion in the first spoiler thread!

hbrogan, Welcome to the group. :)

I hope you find your time here very enjoyable. There is a lot to learn from all of the players at this site. So again welcome and good luck in GOTM 17.

Greetings to you, hbrogan. New civ players are always welcome.

Civ1 to Civ3 is a pretty big jump! I started on Civ2 and had some trouble myself.

My advice is to not stress out much about keeping up with GOTM players - there are quite a few true fanatics.

Playing for the enjoyment is better than strict competition. Most of the time I just play random PTW games at whatever level I can win 40-60% of the time.

You can always browse the forum for tips and hints to go further.

Read an article now and then in the CivFanatics War Academy and you'll be playing on Deity in no time (says a die hard Monarch level player that can't make the jump to Emperor). :)

Since I have noticed this Thread, it is wise for me to post in this thread rather than clutter the GOTM forum with "New Commer" threads.

Another New commer introducing myself,

I have been around CFC for a long time, But I consider myself as a New Commer to the GOTM Forums since I hardly ever visit the forum. I am a Partisipant of the Civ3 Demogame and also the Civ3 Tourney Staff Member.

I have played only one or two GOTM games, but I did teribley since I had to deal with RL situations and also Partisipating in the Demogame also takes a bit away from you. I am going to start on the current GOTM after I finish a SG (In witch I am also parisipating in)

I currently play on a Monarch level. My goal in Civ3 is to play on Deity and actualy beating it :).

No responce on welcoming me in to the GOTM Community

. I guess most everyone is distracted with the QSC 17 Discussions and quickly finishing up there QSC 18. I better sit back and Finish off my QSC 18 and send it on its way :).

:wavey: Welcome CivGeneral!

I don't think that noone wanted to welcome you. It's more the result of a general condition of tunnelvision on the sticky threads and 'evolution of GOTM' threads. If you had mentioned milking or score calculation you would probably had an answer quite quick :)

BTW, I'm also a monarch player struggling to gain confidence at higher difficulty levels.

CivGeneral,

You may want to make a note that there is alot less of the pure spam and chat posting behavior here than you may be used to in the Demogame and PBEM forums. You will not see 47 howdy and gerneral yippee, me too, type message per hour like you will in those other forums.

If you can balance the two different standards of behavior and recognize the reasons why they are different, then you can do well in both environments. The way you are perceived here will be based on thoughful play and topical contributions that help to advance the discussions.

Hopefully you will see the intent of why I responded here for your long term benefit.

Welcome to the group civgeneral. I think you will find our community interesting and diverse. If you are looking at improving your game play to beat deity consistently then I would recomend looking at the QSC challenges. We are due for a emperor or deity game soon and that will probably give you the most help toward that goal. The QSC's have allowed me to improve several of my game fronts that I was not aware needed improvment. Good Luck!! and again welcome. :)
