I recently played a regent game on a standard map as Germany. I shared a big continent with England and France. I was about the take London but this
final infantry defender refuses to die on my Panzers. Now out of nowhere, France declared war and took London! And that's the only city it attacked! Did the AI do that often?
I don't want to start war with France yet. So I swallowed my pride and went on to finish the other British cities. Now France kept sending packs of infantries(about 20) across my border and when I asked them to leave, they will comply and try again the next turn. What should I do to prevent this?

First of all, you are posting in the wrong forum. This forum is reserved for "Strategy Articles"; therefore, don't be too surprise if the mod move this thread to the "Civ3 - Strategy & Tips" forum.

That's normal! If your civ is weak, chances are other civs will join in the war against you to take a piece of your kingdom. When this happen, many newbies usually call it as "AIs are ganging up against me!":;) In reality, if you see a civ is about to die, I'm sure you will jump into the war and try to get a piece of his/her kingdom too. Therefore, this behavior is very typical of both AIs and humans.

There isn't any way to can prevent them from doing that. If you are alot more powerful than them, they may respect your border; otherwise, just let them pass!:D If you ask them to leave too many times, they will declare war. If you don't really want them to pass into your border, just use your units or workers to block their paths.

If you want to amuse yourself build a wall of units with a gap. Wait until all the infantry march over to it then close it and open another gap somewhere else. You can then watch a huge SOD march backwards and forwards for the rest of time.

I suggest you take London with culture.
While your troops are taking English cities start rushing temples and libraries in the towns around London.
The AI is quite slow to do this. The French will be starting off with a culure rating of zero in London so it should be quite easy.
I also suggest giving France small gifts such as 1 gp per turn to prevent her attacking you to soon.

Actually, it says strategy AND tips, so he's chosen well.

Originally, this thread wasn't in this forum. The mod just moved it here; I bet you haven't thought of that, have you?

Moonsinger -> Um... and that makes it better?

What I meant to say is that the "tips" thing might be interpreted as a fine place to get them... as well as post them...

I think I was talking about apple and you were talking about oranges here. There was no "tips" thing to begin with (since it was orginally started in the wrong place).
