Hi!

I'm have reverted to/re-installed Civ II(2) again after quite a break. I had forgotten how good it was! However, I have a question I hope someone can help with.

I have a vague recollection that spys could sabotage ships (and other units?). I can't do this now. Is it a sign of age creeping up on me :) or am I thinking of civ 1? Thanks.

Your recollection is correct. Spys can sabotage ships and units. The only catch is that the unit must be stacked by itself, two or more units stacked together prevent a spy from sabotaging or bribing them.

Thanks very much for the reply ACE. Mysterious! I have had a quick check and tried again. For ships or other units, no sabotage 'option' shows at all, only the bribe option (There is if trying to do a bit of industrial/city sabotage).

Only spies can sabotage units. Diplomats can bribe units, conduct industrial sabotage, steal techs, bribe cities and, at the cost of the diplomat, investigate cities and establish embassies. Spies can do everything the diplomat can do, sometimes or always escaping (depending on the job), can make specific targets in industrial sabotage and tech theft, poison the water supply and plant nuclear bombs.

Yes, Sabotage. When a spy approaches a single enemy unit, you get two options, bribe or sabotoge. The only other thing I can think of that might be causing confusion is if you are mixing up diplomats and spies. A diplomat can only bribe units, while a spy can do both.
