My pesky citizens want wine and silk.
How do I give it to them?
How do I connect my trade network to this resource?

thanks

You can either pay enough gold to a city state that has the resource so that they become an ally and will supply it to you, or you can trade your excess resources (or pay for it with gold) to another major civ who has it.

Click on the CS or a Civ's city-name bar or go to your diplo drop-down menu and their available resources are listed when you open up a trade dialogue window.

You can trade strategic resources (horses, iron, etc.) or luxuries (spices, gold, silver, wine, etc.) or gold ($) for any other resources, or for gold ($).

in diplomacy overview, your relationships it lists the luxury resources each ai has available to trade that you don't have. it also lists the "nearby" resources for the city states, which they may or may not have improved.

ai is very unwilling to trade their last copy of a luxury resource, but if they have 2+ you can generally do a 1:1 trade for your luxury or give them 300 gold (standard speed)

Be careful when buying out a city state for it luxury. Just because it has some resource or luxury in its borders doesn't necessarily mean they have exploited it. This can be due to their idiocy or a recent invasion pilliaged the resource or luxury.
