What is the point of building an airport or having hp on air units? Isn't it just that a miss-or-get-shot-down?

Actually, I think they do combat just like regular units, except you don't see it. I've seen my jet fighters shoot down bombers and come out with 2 hp left. Also, airports are great for airlifting units to cities on other islands/continents.

Question:
Both civ III and PTW run very slowly after the medieval period, im trying it with about 8 opponents and a medium sized map. It now takes around 5 minutes to do one turn! Everything else in the game runs fine (graphics sound etc…).
I have:
PIII ~750 with 385 RAM
Geforce 3
I am running on Windows XP with Service pack one and have all the latest updates and newest drivers.

Yeah, that sounds about right. I've got a comparable system, slightly faster, but I think you're video card is better than mine. You've got a bit more RAM too, and I do about the same. Just the nature of the beast. . .

If you haven't done so already, there are several animation options you can turn off from the preferences screen.

Is WLTKD cancelled when a city enters a negative food balance? That seems to be the only explanation for what happened during a recent game.

that is correct, cromagnon

to use these you have to add them to a self-created scenario.

Although the units' graphics are provided with PTW, there is no out-of-the-box way to use them.

Take a look in the 'creation and customization' forum for some guidelines as to how to add units to the game; there are a couple of fairly straightforward tutorials.

I dunno if it has been asked before, but i have a couple of easy questions:

I conquered a city that has Great Wonders as Sistine Chapel, Shakes Theater and the UN...
For some reason, after a few turns, when i look at the culture of the city, there is no turn contribution from these GW in terms of culture.
I know that the city's culture is zeroed, and the over 1000 years effect vanishes (double the culture/turn) when a city is captured.
On top of that, in the F5 screen, i can clearly see that there is no contribution of these GW. Do they loose their effects when conquered?

I know it might sound silly, but once a GW is razed, i understand we can't rebuild it, right?

Last question, since i captured the UN, how can i call for a UN vote?

Thx all

You receive NO cultural benefits from anything created by a civ other than yourself; normal improvements which create culture are destroyed when the city is captured. GWs are left intact, and continue to perform their 'wonder' results (e.g. Pyramids gives you granaries, etc) BUT the culture is set to zero, and they will never produce any.

Yes, I believe that a razed GW cannot be rebuilt; which is one reason they are treated differently to other culture producing items.

I don't THINK you can call for a UN vote; I think it has to be offered. But someone else likely KNOWS.

Thx Madscot for the info.

As for the UN, i know you get a vote once you build it, and after a certain amounts of turns (20?), you will be prompted for another one, etc.
But i wanted to check if this still happens when i capture the UN.

One more thing, if the GW keep their effect, if i capture the ToE or Great Lib, will i still get two free advances for the ToE, or other techs in case of the Great Lib?

One more:
Anyone knows what "Stealing Military Plans" does?
I always get a message that "Our Military Plans Have Been Stolen"...

Now i know that there is a spy roaming somewhere in my cities, but what does he get from stealing the plans?
(I rarely use spies)

With your enemies military plans, you can see the locations of his troops. That way, you can pick the soft spots of his defence.
Don't bother with the AI stealing your plans, the AI already knows the location of your troops anyway...
