1. I think so, just guessing (but remember: prop doesn't work against democracies & commies got the vet spy bonus).
2. As it is a major problem to keep a newly captured city from a civ with high culture (cf occurs during war), should be possible, but hardly achievable.

1.Ah, the veteran spy bonus. Not that I know what that does for certain (though I have a good guess).

2.thought so.

Yeah, me too still curious about any spy mission's rate of success.
PS: Aggie opened a thread about the tech stealing one... not too much info so far. Hope some Firaxian shows up with formula at some time.

go look in the appropriate forum. I don't know offhand myself. Just browse the forum names.

I have an elite cavalry unit that after winning a battle prompted me to rename it. The unit now has an asterisk after elite in the info box. What's this about?

Also, in my previous game my people would occasionally offer to improve my palace. This hasn't happened once in this game. I figured out how to pull up the palace screen and found out there were two improvements waiting to be made. Any ideas why this is happening?

Renaming the unit is just "for fun". It has no effect on game play. The asterix, however, shows that the unit has created a leader and thus can't create any more leaders. A unit can only create one leader. However, as soon as you upgrade the unit, the asterix disappears and the unit can again create a fresh leader. Since the cavalry can't upgrade, that unit can never again create a leader.

Two questions:

1) In multiplayer, why did they take out the research pop up menus when something new is researched or produced? I have the 'Ask for build orders after unit construction' checked but it still doesn't happen. It works fine in single player.

2) In the info box in lower right corner of the screen, there sometimes is a little sun in the upper left part of the box - what does it mean?

Thanks people!

I see. Thanks, Hurricane.

Can a city culture flip when in WLTKD? (edit: found the formula)

I have a leader in a city and I can neither rush production of a wonder nor create an army. What do I need to do? (edit: doh! buttons right there on my screen...what do ya know)

trafix, the sun means more global warming. There will be more terrain transformations now - like forest into grassland, grassland into plains, or plains into desert. It comes natural with all the factories being built when you (and the AI) hit Industrialization.

I thought that Plutonium was 238 - oh wait, isn't it uranium-238?

Neptunium degrades into the 239 isotope of Plutonium. Plutonium 239 degrades into the 235 isotope of Uranium. Uranium also exists naturally as isotopes 234 and 238.

I've never noticed terrain transformations. How often do they occur? Can the terrain be changed back?

OMG, as soon as I read your global warning post and respond, I alt-tabbed back into my game and one of my grassland squares becomes plains.

I have a couple more questions since I got such wonderful answers the last time, thank you.

1-I am playing a large game with space race, cultural and diplomatic victory disabled because I enjoy the large battles and stuff.

My civ spans 3 continents now with 3 civs left.

I built a new palace on the second continent I captured and it is now fully built up . The new continent I am trying to rebuild.

If I move my capital city to the new continent will the built up one take a huge hit in corruption? I mean will it become as bad as it was before or will the culture and income have a moderating effect?

I was managing a large democracy fairly well I thouught, but the citizens overthru the government and i went to communism.

I want to go back to democracy to build up the new continent and I want to know if I should use the available leader to build a new palace, or just subsadize the build up with the production form the other 2?

Question of my own: why does my mouse always hit the edit button when I mean to hit quote?

But anyway. The rate of transformations depends (as does the rate of pollution) on the number of pollution triangles being produced by all your cities and the AIs cities. Those are those little yellow triangles in the lower left part of each city's screen. Factories, iron works and a few other improvements increase the number of these triangles, as does city population above size 12. You can reduce the number of triangles by building mass transit and recycling plants but you can't eliminate all of them.

The terrain, once chanced does not ever change back. Oh! Just though of one sort-of exception, though. If global warming destroys a forest, you *can* replant it.

Most likely yes you'll have a large increase in corruption (assuming you're back in democracy - in communism the *location* of your palace and FP don't matter). Courthouses, police stations and we love the king day can all reduce the corruption somewhat but it's hard to say whether the cities will still be productive at all without seeing a map.

Depends what your goals are. Personally I hate losing production from cities that are already developed in order to prop up a beaten down region, so I almost never move my palace after the BCs. If you're going for 'all improvements in all cities' you may be better off moving your palace. If you're just going for a quick win, your original productive areas will probably do it faster than the new region.

I have a question:

What does the WLTKD actually do?
What are the effects?

You mean besides the fireworks? :p

The primary effect is a reduction in corruption and waste in the affected city. I think it also makes the city less prone to cultural flipping, but I'm not positive on that one.

WLTKD

Makes flipping harder, reduces waste (makes less shields red, more shields blue) but does NOT reduce corruption.

Really? Didn't know that. Do courthouses and police stations reduce corruption?

Renata

Courthouses and police stations do indeed reduce both corruption and waste :)
