Oh ok, thanks.

Hey if I was to make a thread for people to post advice and comments about my game, what forum would I post at? (not that I'm going to do it, but if I don't get a response about my save in the next couple of days, I think I might.)
I'd say, right here. But let's wait for a response fr one of the mods. Or maybe you can PM one of them. ;)

Either that, or in the Stories subforum, but the traffic level there is low...

Ok here's one:

Do air units, when dealing w/ air superiority, get defensive terrain bonuses?

that would be absurd, and I didn't think so. However, I was a bit curious and I wanted to use this thread for myself.

Killer I thought you were banned! (or was that a while ago?)

hu? me banned? that was way back, the AoA thing.... 3 days only it was, TF reduced it from the two weeks....... I just never get to this thread before the questions have been answered.....

and at this place a thank you to you and all the others who take the time to help the newbies here!

Hi All.

My head is exploding from reading too many CivFanatic posts!

I have Civ3 (not PTW) and want to know which patches and mods I should install to give me just the major improvements to the standard game (I don't want radical changes just usability improvements).

Usually I like to have the latest patches, but it appears that some mods (like the Build Queue improvements by Nemo or SilvaGem) have not been updated for v1.29f. Will they work on 1.29f anyway?

What about terrain mods like Snoopy41 and Womak's - do these work on any patch version?

Thanks
smcSoon

If you have questions about specific mods, you could best post that question in the corresponding thread in the C&C forum. I think most people will (or already have) upgrade their mods to version 1.29.

I know the Great Library expires when the owner gets Education, my question is, does the same rule apply to all wonders? Should I be giving Metallurgy to the owner of the Great Wall before attacking him/her?

(In Civ I & II wonders always expired when anyone discovered the relevant tech.)

Generally speaking, graphics mods will work with any version. Some, like build queue lists, might display incorrect information if a patch changes some rules, but the mod will still "work" ;)

(FWIW, I am working on an update to Silvagem's build queue mod. :) )

Yes, this apply to all wonders, they work unless their current owner has the tech that makes it expire.

It is also fully possible for a backwards civ to capture an expired wonder and get it to function again until the new owner get the tech.

Are you sure about that? I thought that if anyone discovered the tech to make a wonder go away, that wonder went away.

TNO is right. You can confirm by building Hanging Gardens (expires with steam power, leads to ability to build rr). *Avoid* steam power and trade for an ai-map, see them having already rr built. Then develop/trade for steam power. You instantly get the advisor's message of Hanging Gardens being obsolete.

Questions:

What is the animation above some of my cities that looks like fireworks or clouds? and How do I get rid of it? and Do I want to get rid of it?

You don't want to get rid of the fireworks...
That certain city is having a 'We-Love-The-King(Chief,Samurai,etc)-Day' (WLTKD).
It's nice. Reduces corruption.
