Is there a way to wipe your hall of fame?, or at least one civ's enties onto it. And i don't mean just not showing thier score thing.
Sorry about missing your question in the move :)

There is a file called 'HighScores.cv3' in your civ3 directory. You can edit this file in a text editor (such as notepad) and delete any lines in it you don't want.

It will have entries something like this:

Hammurabi 4 1059 3 2 1

For PTW the entries are somewhere different, I can't find them at the moment. :(

Ah, I see how to wipe the HOF. I need to erase the unlawful idiotic cheap entries that I put in there - thanks.

When building an army should you use elete troops or veteran? Can Veteran troops be promoted in to elete in an army?
Would it be beter to keep the elete troops to maybe get another leader? Thanks in advance.

Veteran (and regulars and conscripts) can be promoted while inside an army, all the way up to elites.

Armies cannot produce great leaders.

Elite Units that have made leaders cannot make more until you upgrade that unit.

Thus you may want to save elites for future leaders, and put used elites inside armies along witrh veterans.

Obiously the army itself cannot create a Great Leader as it doesn't participate in the battle. So you mean elite units inside armies cannot produce Great Leaders? Interesting to know. And there I went always putting elites in armies aiming to lose less elites because they're embedded in the army. :wallbash: Thanks for the hint.

Elite units inside Armies CAN indeed create leaders, just like any other units. This was confirmed by Firaxis during the "one leader per elite" discussion.

Hurricane could you provide a link to this at all?? Cause after asking the same question not too long ago, i got many replies contradicting you. Saying this you are probably right anyways :mischief:

The search function doesn't seem to be working for me at the moment, so I don't know if this has been asked before. Is it possible to change the music tracks that are played during each era? I am not a fan of the modern age music, and I would much rather hear the Renaissance music, or even earlier music, instead. Is there a file setting that will allow me to set the music tracks played? Thanks for the help.

It's easy. Go to the folders C:/Civilization 3/SOUNDS/BUILD, then choose the age you want to change the songs, replace it with your favorite mp3 files but DO NOT forget to rename the new files with the original names.

For example, if you want to replace the song "Starsfull" from Modern Ages for a Bach symphony (mp3), delete the original "Starsfull", rename the Bach song "Starsfull" and put it in the appropriate folder.

I, for example, found that modern music with the annoying guitar just terrible, so I replaced it with a Wagner's song. It worked perfectly.

By the way, I too have a question:

The "culturally linked start locations" box seems not to function to me.

I leave it blank, start a game (emperor level, standard map, selected civs) but the americans are always close to the astecs, germany to england and japan to china. I dont understand, they should not be close to each other all the time. I started more than 15 games and same thing happens, although the box is not checked.

I'm playing Civ 3 - 1.29.

Can anybody here tell me what might be going on with my game?

Thanks in advance.

Its not exactly a Newb. question but I wasn't sure were eles to put it. Can you take over a civilization completly by culture? I don't see why it wouldn't but it sounds to strange to be possible.

No.
You cannot culture flip a civilization's capital city (the one where the Palace is). The same applies to you; the only city immune to flips is the one with the Palace. NB the Forbidden Palace can be flipped.

That is not what the FAQ
or the
Great Leader thread by sumthinelse
states.
Do you have e.g. a save game or, as stated, a link to support your statement.

Wow, I am going to sound real dumb, especially since I used to know this, but, how in the heck do you change the rules so you can get the Heroic Epic after building Barracks (either just one or some number). I can never seem to get a leader, no matter how much combat I do, so I'll just take the easy way and see army on army battles.

Also something I used to know, how do you adjust the number of units going into an army? I feel like packing 10 of them in there and watching a nice, epic battle. Thanks.

Oops, you are perfectly right, guys. :o Seems my memory is getting pretty crappy. This is what mike said:

Units in armies cannot spawn leaders because an army is already led by the leader that created it. Also, leaders cannot be spawned from combat with barbarians (this was not changed in a patch -- it has always worked this way).

Both can be done in the rules section of the editor. For the Heroic Epic, go to the "Improvements & Wonders tab", uncheck "Requires a Victorius Army" in the lower right, and add a barracks prereq in the upper left. For the army capacity, go to the "Units" tab, select Army, and change the "Trans. Capacity" in the "Unit Statistics" Section on the left side of the window.

Ok, you know how if you get a city in a peace treaty, and all those citizens are already of your nationality?

Well, what if the Zulu give me, the French a city containing Russians and Zulu. Will the people be all French or French and Russian.

Basically, can you convert people to your opponents if they are not yours to give?

No (I think). I've captured cities with multiple nationalities, so I guess the program keeps track of that 'indefinately' (which is, until converted).

They keep their nationality. Regarding your example, Russians could even be citizens in that city when the civ Russia is already wiped out.

I got beaten to a wonder last night and so had heaps of shields that would have gone to waste. So I used them to move the palace to a slightly more central location.

I assumed the old palace would remain in the original city as a cultural treasure, but it didn't. So does this mean that moving an old palace can have a significant affect on your civ's rate of culture growth (especially when the palace is old)? Are there any other caveats about moving the palace?

And just to confirm... the Forbidden Palace can't be moved once built?

Cheers
