Hello all. I just picked this up and go into it with some reservations. I'm a huge Railroad Tycoon Deluxe fan but found little to like in the PopTop games. I still play the original and enjoy it. Nice to see it's back out there again.
Anyway, playing this version I've run into a couple of very basic things.
1) First scenario in the Northeast. Get 50 passengers from New York to Washington. In the old days that could be done (priority consist) by linking New York to Washington via any number of in-between stops and making sure passenger service existed between them. It appears now that that's just not enough here. It appears I need to take these goals literally and dedicate a train or trains to take passengers from New York to Washington directly. Is that correct? If so, that's a bit of a let down.
2) Are they joking with the complexity of laying track? Laying single track is a breeze but when you find you need to lay 2, 3 4 or more entries into a city so far it's been impossible to manage and the trains aren't reacting in any way I can follow. I get 4 lines running into Trenton with interconnects between them and the trains still freeze all insisting on taking one line in. Plus I find it nearly impossible to see the detail enough to figure out where I went wrong.
3) No slower speed? Pause, Normal and 2x. Is that correct?
What should be my next step to get the right perspective with this game and give it the best shot at convincing me it's a keeper?
