Newbie to PTW Looking For First Game ...

Just received my copy of PTW. Anyone interested in playing a game ?

Let me qualify that ... not really a game to completion but a learning opportunity for the game. I'm shooting for this weekend Saturday 11 am EST for a couple of hours ?

I'm sure there a numerous other folks out there who have just received the game and want a patient group of folks - perhaps someone who has a little experience with the game to help others stumble through it. btw ... I played CIVII MPG E frequently so I'm not a total newbie.

If you are looking for such an opportunity please respond to this thread and I'd like to set something up for Saturday Nov 9 at 11 am EST.

I see there is a 1.04 patch out there but it is 'beta' - do you need that to play?

Yes, you should download the patch. There's also PBEM fixes, too.

Thanks Chieftess but what is PBEM ? Where are the fixes ? I do have the latest civ iii fixes already.

Thanks Chieftess. I couldn't find a PBEM patch on the fixaris website.

I've since been reading all the bug reports here and other forums on this CIV III PTW catastrophe. I think I'm just going to file the software for a while on my shelf of buggy software I don't have the time to do the QA on it.

Seems the that Sid made a mistake releasing this software prematurely. I shouldn't have purchased this early. Oh well. At least it wasn't Nortel...

Well, it is Sunday morning 8am, and i'd love to get into a game, but alas, MP seems to be too rough. I hope that when the next patch comes out we can continue this thread and find a few players that don't mind a relaxing and enjoyable playing experience!

Just to update, i've been in a bunch of games, most have not lasted long... i think the longest that a game has stayed open without crashing for me is about an hour. As for gameplay itself, i find it quite slow. I've read that this is due to too much traffic being sent back and forth, so hopefully things will speed up with the patch.

Once again, I hope to meet up with you all when the game is playable! For now i'm the koreans on the world map, and own north and south america... one of those 'i've already won' games.
