Newbie with a couple of questions!

First of all, I have looked around this site, and it is GREAT!

Couple of questions on CIV III.

1) How do I get all of the newer Naval vessels (destroyers, frigates, carriers). I have more than enough technology. I have all of the older ships, and ironclads. I have nucler power. I do not know what I am missing? I am playing the americans if that helps any.

2) How do I get an embassy in a foreign Capitol city? I am playing against the French. We are on seperate islands. I have sent a few troops over there, and have been warned for it. I do have the espionage skill, as well as a intel agency. I do not know how to establish an embassy, and also to trade?

1) do you have access to the needed resources to build the newer ships?

2) click on the little star icon next to your capital. You should be able to go from there.

1. For Carriers, Destroyers need Oil resource to be able to build them.
Check what resource are need to build those units.

2. To establish an Embassy, double-click on the star-icon on your captial city.
or Ctrl-E : to Establish an Embassy. The tech required to establish an Embassy is Writing.

Yeah I ran into the same problem as well the couple of times I had access to fighter planes but couldn't use them because I had no airports. Looked in the civilpedia and realized that I needed radio to build them. You are probably missing oil

Thanks for the advice! I realized after I posted this that I could look in that encyclopedia place. It told me what I needed, but the game ended 3 turns later! I worked for about 10 hours to get there, only to have the game end 3 turns after I finally realized how to do it. I guess I will have to start over with the knowledge in place this time. Thanks again.

BY the way, you don't need airports to use fighters.
