Some pretty impressive scores this month, and it was very interesting to see a religious victory in the medals.

Jeffa grabbed gold, as well as fastest domination. chunkymonkey complimented his silver with a fastest conquest, and hhhawk chose the new religious victory condition, earning a bronze medal.

amazing to see 19 cultural losses...looks like the changes to the AI did what they were supposed to do.

Congrats to all the winners! I fell victim to the AI knowing better than me how to use the AP.

1. Balbes 1755AD :trophy:
2. Niklas 1868AD
3. karmina 1902AD
4. Erkon 1912AD
5. bcool 1915AD
6. Gnejs 1932AD
7. Ronnie1 1975AD

Congratulations to Balbes for winning the gauntlet and thanks to all the people who participated. Unfortunately I couldn't play this time due to lack of time, but I hope I'll be able to complete the 3rd gauntlet.

3rd/7 challenger space date - not so bad considering I was beaten to every single early wonder by the AI...
Amazing performance Balbes, pre-1800 spaceship in bts is outstanding!

I'm surprised at the variance in playing time. Always thought I'm the slowest player around, but my 22 hours are far from being the most.

Oh my, what difference there can be in a second place. Second fastest gauntlet result, and yet beaten by eons by Balbes! :worship:

Balbes, I would love to read a spoiler from you, and maybe see a few part-way saves if you have any. :)

And congratulations to all other winners too!

Congrats to all winnners.

I've checked the event log from Balbes' game and compared to my development. This is what I found:

Balbes delays initial settlements with 2 turns (much better than at the coast  )
Balbes settles city #2 and #3 at 2680 BC and 2320 BC (very early)
Balbes learns the Alphabet at 1800 BC () and trades away pre-alpha techs such as writing and AH for peanut-techs.
Balbes build Oracle 975 BC and grabs CoL (from pre-chopped forests?)
Balbes runs scientists and use one Great Scientist to lightbulb Civil Service
Balbes pick Biology from Liberalism

Both of us where fighting a lot, although perhaps I exagerated a bit :mischief:

Very good play :goodjob: . Especially compared to my rotten game . The only comfort I have is that I used NUKES!!!

My first award. The green ambulance. Stop it, I'm blushing.

I will write a spoiler, with a detailed account of the pre-BC years, and with a brief descrption of the important moments afterwards. But please allow some time for it, perhaps a week or so, because real life has been somewhat busy lately.

I'm happy to be up there in the group of 1600s dominations. This was actually my first complete game in BTS! :)

I got a great spy towards the end and used the espionage points to sabotage 4 of Hammurabi's castles... that was cool, and made quick work of him after that.

Hey, Doc TK, if you are out there, I am very impressed with a 1790 AD domination in 6 and half hours of play. :dubious: You are clearly more decisive than me...!

cheers

Balbes: When you are waiting for something good, you can never wait too long but it always feels like you do. (Swedish proverb with a small addition by me). :D

Thanks to the staff and players for another fun game!

Standout games from Balbes, chunkymonkey and Jeffa, well done!

Congratulations Harok for your diplo award :goodjob: .

A nice close fight between yourself, ShannonCT and me. Strange that ShannonCT had the same finish date and a higher base score but you had a better final score (just) to win the award.

It was a tad frustrating going for diplo when the resolutions unexpectedly did not show up. Had to wait 31 turns (on normal speed!) after building the UN before there was a secretary general voted in. Not sure whether this is a change with BTS but it might be worth noting for future games if anyone plans to do the UN-gifting technique. See the Botm2 final spoiler for my full gripe ;)

Wot? No BC conquests on a pangea map?!?!? Shame on y'all

Seriously, congratulations to some impressive victories!

I suspect the number of cultural losses was partly because people aren't yet used to the AI going for cultural and so didn't allow for the possibility in their playing. I bet in future BOTMs people will be looking out for those more and so less likely to get taken by surprise.

Its a strange feeling, I almost feel bad that I won the diplo award considering I was outplayed by both Jimmy Thunder and ShannonCT but they encountered the bug/unknown feature with diplo voting options. Add in that ShannonCT and I had the exact same date and my score barely beat his to win the award and I further feel bad.

Congrats to all the winners, that space date seems really impressive Balbes.:goodjob:

Thanks to the staff for a fun game and the speedy results.:king:

Congrats to the winners (some impressive times) and thanks to the staff as always.

I see that I was not alone in experiencing "Culture Shock"

Just missed my first green ambulance too, I see.

Harok, join the club of guilty diplo awards (with me) ... should we put an asterisk in the record book? ;)

Why is the religious shield the same purple as the diplo shield? Since religion is about fiery passion, and candles or fire are often a symbol, why not orange, the color of fire?
