[BTS] News: BOTM 166 Results and Congratulations

This was an immortal level game, starting on flood-plain-on-snow terrain that would inevitably be very slow to improve. So it's perhaps not surprising that there were no super-early victories. Even so, quite a few people managed quite respectable military dates, with nocho pulling the fastest conquest (and gold medal) in 1600 AD. Jovan Kukic was a few turns behind, with conquest win in 1640 AD. Bronze medal and fastest domination when to deckhand, in 1818 AF. sevnhuts also managed domination, but delayed winning until 1937AD - which yielded the cow. Meanwhile, krivav (cultural) and MarleysGh0st (space) secured the only two non-military victories.

There were three non-winning entries - amongst those, donsig managed to get both ambulances! And given the difficulty of the game, I'm surprised there weren't more. Perhaps other people weren't willing to submit

So, noone settled in-place. And slightly to my surprise, only two people (Jovan Kukic and UB40) tried to get the pre-mined silver into the BFC. The biggest group settled 1W to get the two foods (fish and dear) while a fwe others headed for the Southern deer. Everyone got at least one of the high-food/faster-worker-building tundra floodplains in their BFC, although only krikav settled right next to it and so could take advantage of it before any culture-pops.

The Small Print:
The numbers by each player's name indicate the turn settled on (starting turn is 0). Players are colour coded by game class (challenger=red, adventurer=blue). Symbols indicate victory condition, if there's no symbol then the player either retired or was defeated. The yellow border indicates the land that was visible at the start of the game.

Thanks for the game, DS! Had a lot of fun with and am obviously quite pleased with the result. Breaking Jovan's gold-standard doesn't happen to me every day (or month for that matter ).

Of course, by my other standard (trying for a score at least 50% of the winner's score) my result was a pathetic 10%.
