BOTM 167: Brennus of Celtia.

In keeping with this being January and still kinda Christmas, you are playing a COLD map. Ice age, to be precise. Because I'm feeling so kind, you are playing Brennus of the Celts, one of the leader that surely has the most useless unique unit and building. Barbs are raging, and there aren't very many AIs in this game so there should be plenty of space for them to rage from. But lest you think I'm really really mean, you do start with two scouts. Oh, and in a burst of generosity, I gave you a settler as well, so you can found a city really early in the game! HAHA!

Game settings:
Playing as: Brennus of Celtia
Rivals: 4 AIs
Difficulty: Monarch
Starting Era:
Ancient
Speed: Normal
Options: Raging barbarians, no tech trading, no vassal states, no goody huts, no random events
Victory Conditions:
All enabled

Map settings:
Map: Ice Age
World Wrap: Cylindrical
Mapsize: Standard
Climate: Tropical
Sea level: Medium
Map latitudes: -90°S to 90°N

Brennus is Spiritual and Charismatic, and you start with Mysticism and Hunting.

The Spiritual trait gives no anarchy and double production speed of Temple and Cristo Redentor

The Charismatic trait gives +1 happiness/city, and -25% experience required for unit promotions

Unique unit: Gallic Warrior (replaces Swordsman)
The Gallic Warrior benefits from: requires access to copper or iron, and free promotions: guerilla1. This compares with the Swordsman which has: requires access to iron.

Unique Building: Dun (replaces Walls)
The only difference between the dun and walls is that the dun gives the guerilla I promotion to units built in this city. Since your unique unit starts with guerilla I anyway, you could argue that this isn't quite as useful as it might otherwise have been...

By the way, on these settings, you can expect human barbs to start appearing by about turn 35-ish. With Raging Barbs on, They will head straight into your cultural borders - there is no 'grace' period when they are too scared to come into your borders.

Raging barbs also have to follow average city # rules i think.
Recently i made a map in S&T with them, and while the AI had only 1 city they would not enter my borders.

Was on deity with dozens barbs close very early, yup deity AIs start with 2 cities but i made a special micro challenge with a "story AI" having only 1.
After giving that AI 2 more cities, barbs rushed in from ~T12 on.
Not sure how it works on Monarch with average city numbers.

@DynamicSpirit I had a crash at aprox 1500AD, have made sure to backup the autosaves of that turn and the turn previously.
What was it I was suposed to do? :)

Hi krikav, you're supposed to do pretty much exactly what you've done. Keep the latest couple of saves, then play on from the very latest save you have that works, trying as far as you can remember not to do anything differently from the first time round. The only slight issue is you're supposed to send the mapmaker a private message, rather than announce it to everyone on the forum (partly for privacy, and partly to avoid the risk of inadvertently giving spoiler info away). But that's OK this time. I'll let you off ;) Thanks for letting me know.

(The real issues are when people have crashes and don't tell us, and then they submit and our game analysis software immediately flags up that the game has been reloaded but there's no explanation ... and then we start getting suspicious... :hmm: )
