News: BOTM 25 Results and Congratulations

This was another popular game with 100 entries, most of whom managed a victory of some kind, and as usual there were some impressive victory dates and - umm - scores. jesusin has finally succeeded i winning a gold medal on one of the highest scores ever recorded in a xOTM.

That is quite a big gap between 1st and 2nd place. Hard to believe after Jesusin's troubles in the early game. Lesson of the day: Never give up!

Indeed, there were a lot of impressive finishes this month!

Jesusin and Niklas showed off with their relatively high points based on their chosen victory types.

ZPV, hhhawk, Jove, srad, frederiksberg, and Dynamic rang in with finish dates that pulled nicely ahead of the competition.

shyuhe and Balthalion both did really well with the Challenger save.

Thanks go to lroumen and zamint3 for the Cultural competition while jesusin was busy with his Gold-medal chasing and while Grey Cardinal has been away on hiatus.

My congrats to Lehm who beat me out by a few turns on the Dom victory. Nice game! I didn't really think my time would get the fastest award, but it wasn't so far off...

Shouldn't there be an award for xOTM Game Designers who receive 100 entries for their game

I just thought I might just get it... that fastest cultural victory medal.... however, halfway through the game I was bugged by privateers to no end and I had to put my cultural aspirations on wait and research astronomy. The horror! I just hate those stupid ships!
That was a significant delay that put my thoughts of the fastest cultural on hold for a long time. I was also not fortunate enough for a second religion spread to my empire, so not many cathedrals could be built.

All in all, I think I might have pulled off a late 1700 win, but never near the speed of Dhoomstriker. Congratulations!

That speed seems quite insane. I'll have to check the replay, but I'm thinking that where I kept to my own cities, you must have captured a capital somewhere and rebuilt it towards culture. For me, it will be quite interesting to see where our paths cross and diverge, since I still have a lot to optimize for my cultural wins.
