BOTM 279: Cyrus of Persia.

Please enjoy the game as Cyrus of Persia in Prince difficulty level. Huts and Random Events are active, though I did move the huts near your start position to keep the competition somewhat less random. As you can tell by the late start for this game, it was kind of a hurried mapmaker effort. But since you are all starving to play, I was generous in giving you some food. Beware the raging barbarians.

Cyrus is Charismatic and Imperialistic, and you start with Agriculture and Hunting.

The Charismatic trait gives +1 happiness/city, and -25% experience required for unit promotions

The Imperialistic trait gives +100% great general emergence and +50% production of settlers

Unique unit: Immortal (replaces Chariot)
The immortal gives you a better chance attacking archer-defended cities, since it has +50% strength against archers. And unlike chariots, it receives defensive bonuses.

Unique Building: Apothecary (replaces Grocer)
The apothecary has supercharged health benefits: It gives +2 health out of the box, in addition to the resource-dependant health benefits of the grocer.

Heh, heh... you all who played or are still playing botm278 :satan: , this is my apology map. I told DS that I could easily make an unwinnable deity game. That's why I gave you some extra food near the start for botm279... I figure you are all starving for a good romp over the computer opponents. But do realize that it makes it even harder to beat your human opponents in the GOTM tables. Evil in a different way, maybe.:mwaha:

Did you edit that map or it's as generated by the game?

EDIT: oh it is edited, because usually wheat shows up in the north of the map and that looks like the south grasslands. In general there should not be horses there, but who knows...

I hope the barbarians have something nice, like a Humbaba maybe. They are after all raging.
We seem to be in the south. Scout needs to hurry if it wishes to pop any huts far away before it's eaten by bears (or Wakandan black panthers...) It will probably go to the desert hill to see if anything edible or glittering is nearby. After that will settle somewhere around the lake, either in place or 1NE to claim all the food. Was charismatic also +1:c5happy: with monuments and broadcast towers?
Will try to get GWall and Henge would also be useful for happy monuments. We probably have insane neighbours, maybe Monty, Shaky, Gengy to feel all warm and fuzzy. Maybe there's a Russian civ somewhere, they sure act like raging barbs. Events mean we get mixed marriages and religious feuds to wreck any attempt at peaceful co-ex. Must remember to keep some gold reserve for all those nasty events. Slavery will give slave revolts. State religion will give additional quest reward options.

"oh it is edited, because usually wheat shows up in the north of the map and that looks like the south grasslands."

Ah.. you see right through me! Once I open the WB save to get rid of the nearby huts, it is impossible for me to not mess around with a lot of other stuff. LOL :mwaha:

Generous start.
I am curious to see if the mapmaker has also given us horses for our UU. Normally horses are only found in the northern part of this mapscript. Should be easy to check, with our ideal starting techs, I will go AH first. If no horses, I might go for TGW just for the peace of mind. Not sure how raging the barbs are at prince level.
