And what's even better: I had build the UN in 1490AD in order to prevent the AI from making any stupid things... I didn't take the diplo win at that time, because a) I had planned to go for space and wanted to stick with that plan and b) I thought because of my bad start and because I didn't focus on the UN (I went for Miniaturization and the Internet first) someone else would have been faster to the UN anyway...

Well done, tao! Looks like the extra 3 minutes you took made all the difference...

I will second what Lanzelot said about Sima Qian's diplomatic victory. I should have tried that, but since this was Demi-god, we had raging barbies, and I didn't like any of the locations around the starting spot all too much, I thought it wouldn't work too well.
