A generous starting position. We could move inland and still probably have a 4-turn settler factory. But this being C3C (no round city placement necessary) I think I would settle in place and perhaps go for two settler factories, depending on the available space.

Not to forget, an early curragh may be enough reason to settle in place.

First off, I'm playing Civ again for the first time in quite a while. I played Civ II, Alpha Centauri with the Planetary Pack, Civ III, and Civ IV. Given that my new (used) PC needs some RAM to play IV (only have 512 MB now), I'll start with III. II and III are my favorite versions anyhow. (I've never played 5 - don't have the cash to throw down on a PC just to play it.)

I'll be rusty, so I don't expect much for my first COTM, especially on Deity, but I will give it a shot. I've been playing CivFree, which is a linux based download, on my other PC, and it got me craving the real deal.

I wouldn't be surprised if I come in last place. But I will have fun regardless. Kind of like watching a really good movie that you've forgotten over time. Fun but familiar.

My main issue will be remembering which version I am playing! By that, I mean I will probably spend a lot of time on the boards asking stupid questions...
