FFHOTM 01: Valledia the Even

Edit: This game has been delayed as the saves did not work. Hence i deleted the corrupt save files, I have made a new map, posted it in Reloaded FFHOTM 01 thread, and will post a new thread this friday 7/9/07 with the new saves for the new map.

I'm having trouble with loading the save (Adventurer). I've done a clean install of FfH2, patched Smarter Orcs .14. However, when I go to load the save, it gives me this message: "The save you have selected is protected to ensure that the assets in your mod folder have not been changed", and when I hit Ok, tosses me back to the main menu. I realize I must be missing something quite obvious, but it's just not coming to me.

Hi

I get a “The save file you have selected is protected to ensure that the assets in your mod folder have not been changed” whenever I try to open it.

When I open the save file, It always wants to open the mod in my Mods/Fall from Heaven 2 023 directory. I have tried putting both the vanilla and the cleaver orcs mod in my Mods/Fall from Heaven 2 023 directory to the same effect.

Is it just me? If so I guess I will have to reinstall everything:(

I'm having the same issue Tharg. I'm trying a FFH023c/Smarter Orcs014 reinstall now to see if that solves it (I can't imagine what it might think I modded though!). I'll let you know if it works, to save you the troulbe if it doesn't.

Later: Screw it. I reinstalled the entire mod, copied it and applied Smarter Orcs, and tried to load the save. The save complained I wasn't in the Fall from Heaven 2 023 directory. So I tried renaming my proper 023 as a backup, and Smarter Orcs as "Fall from Heaven 2 023". Once again it complains that the game is locked to prevent XML crap.

Let's get a save that people can use without jumping through convoluted hoops.

Same problem here as Grunthex is having. Ah well, I suppose I could use a bit of practice with Smarter Orcs before diving right in anyway... but a bit of help would be welcome.

I am seeing the same issue.

I have tried a clean install of Ffh 23c and smarter orcs 0.14, I even left out the media pak. Problem still exists.

I do have other mods, not related to Ffh, could they be affecting it?

Has anyone got it working?

I can state that you need your mod directory to be named the same as the mod directory it was saved under (If it isn't, it will give you an error when you try to load the game, and inform you of the "correct" name of the mod directory). I'm afraid I don't know anything about locking, though.

I have renamed my directory structure to the standard
Mods/Fall from Heaven 2 023

you need to open the save by going to single player load game. WB has been disabled for ths game, hence you get the "modified assets" error if you try to modify the file.

I have uploaded new files, could someone please check to see if they work.

did you try opening the save by going to load game? it works fine on my computer.

I've tried starting FfH2, then going single player -> load game -> savefile. I've also tried loading the game by double clicking on the savefile. Both ways give me the “The save file you have selected is protected to ensure that the assets in your mod folder have not been changed” message.

My directory is:
C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Mods\Fall from Heaven 2 023
it could complain if we have different directories, or different mods/xml versions. i'm using 0.23 with SO0.14 and no other modifications.

Hmm. That may be my problem. I've installed ALL my programs to F:\Program Files\...

I also don't have enough room on C:\ for anything; I made a partition just large enough for windows and some swap.

Edit: If anyone else who's having this problem can confirm if the new saves fix the problem for them, I think I can safely assume my problem is due to Civ4 not being installed on C:\

My directory is exactly the same as Vulcans, and I still get the problem. The only thing I can think of is Vulcans has a modified file of some sort in one of his FFH directories.

My installation is exactly the same, but the new saves still do not work.

Could it be related to the save game path?
My save games are in...
C:\Documents and Settings\giddion\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Saves\single

maybe it's because my computer wants to save the games in a different directory.
C:\Users\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Saves\Single

your file didn't seem to work on my computer

Hey Guys

I've been trying to get this to work too and cant load Vulcans saves the same as the others above. But I did get Giddions Arcania save to work on my computer.

I don't think its anthing to do with the save game path as mine is the same as Vulcans and still it doesn't work. By the looks of it all those save game paths you guys mention point to the same place anyway - the My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Saves\Single path within the users documents.

Anyway I have two suggestions for you Vulcans.
1) Try posting a save with the world builder enabled, this may be whats causing the bother.
2) (And my money is on this one) Reinstall the whole mod. Copy or rename your ffh 0.23 folder, then install 0.23, media pack and smarter orcs 0.14 again. Then upload saves from that.

Hope this helps

And thanks for all the effort Vulcans, keep trying we'll get there. I am really looking forward to playing this and comparing notes with others.

Dave
