Game Revolution staffer Joshua Villines has written a preview of Civilization III. Villiness complimented Firaxis for not releasing "merely an updated sequel" in the preview. At the same time, he suggested that Firaxis's decision to build the overall look of the game around Pieter Bruegel's Tower of Babel, and not emulating the bright, smooth textures of games like Age of Mythology, might not please everyone. Besides that, Villines is very impressed by the new interface and other intrigueing new concepts Firaxis is adding to the game.
