Two thirds of you managed to win this tough Monarch game. Matching my experience that monarch often seems harder than emperor. Maybe you are all just used to those unbalanced starts that us map makers kindly give you. ;)

Cactus_Pete got another gold along with fastest Conquest victory;
Daijn7 won the cow with the only other Conquest victory.

Second, third and fourth places were Domination victories:
Neilmeister had the earliest victory (only 30 years before CactusPete) grabbing the Silver; sleepless took the Bronze (74 years before Ronnie1).

terminator3k won a very close Space Race with launches in 1950, 1962, 1966, 1967, 1975 and 2017. [With AIs launching in 1964, 2015, and 2017.]

Pious_Pete had both the earliest and low scoring Cultural victory in 1866, edging out zamint3's higher scoring 1874 cultural win.

DaVinci receives the Diplomat of the Month award for his UN Loss.
Spoiler :
Well, DaVinci submitted the only UN result. Although it was a loss for him, it was a victory for one of the UN Kids. Presumably DV voted for himself, so the rules lawyers award him DotM.

Here's where everyone settled.

The Small Print:
The numbers by each player's name indicate the turn settled on (starting turn is 0). Players are colour coded by game class (challenger=red, adventurer=blue). Symbols indicate victory condition, if there's no symbol then the player either retired or was defeated. The yellow border indicates the land that was visible at the start of the game.

Well done to all the winners... Still think this had some of the worse starting land I've seen in a GOTM. A bit nicer next time please.. :)

It was a fun game, but the short month left me too low on time to complete my submission.

Great job to those who submitted! :goodjob:

Hmmm, was Diplo that hard or were people just avoiding it for other reasons, such as just playing the same way all of the time (always Domination) or just trying to avoid competing for a Victory Condition that you were sure someone else was going to win? ;)

I assumed, most people would try diplo, and possibly nobody would try conquest.
Both assumptions were wrong. ;-)

I like the starts that aren't always golden. Gets me out of my comfort zone.

Congrats to the winners!

I am not trying for Diplo in GotM's personally. I'm trying for "double eptathalete", and already have 2 wins in that category. I could see how diplo would have been difficult on this map, this map was not easy at all, as referenced by an 1896 Dom taking 4th.

:rotfl: Diplomat of the Month ... stop it, you're killin' me!

Did you check to see if I was even on the ballot? :mischief:

Sloppy start, didn't fogbust the ice, got overrun by barbs and lost third city. Never recovered from that.

Still, had a shot at diplo as I had good relations with three AI. Built UN, but got a shock when MP3, top of score, ended up not top in pop, and Lei Lei (+12 with me) was voting rival. That killed any diplo win chance.

This was a loooooong, slow, game. Congrats to neilmeister for the fastest finish.

Suspect some of the non-submissions just ran out of time or patience.

I am amazed I got fastest finish, it certainly didn't feel fast.

Another silver, hmmm.... one of these days I am going to get lucky and grab that gold.

Me I'm just trying to avoid victory conditions I've already got the award in.. Oh and managing war weariness in Vanilla/Warlords.. Always seems to kill me..

@Ronnie1. Didn't mind the starting position to much. Just trying to look for decent second sites seemed a problem. :)

Nope
I'm traveling without access to Civ and using a borrowed computer to post the results and this

I'd like so much of having finished this game :twitch:. Maybe I stayed in fifth place with the latest domination  and it would be my best result (in case of victory, of course :p)

Congrats to medallists, awards winners and all players that subbmit! Thanks for another game Deckhand :goodjob:!

But, one question is still without answer ;)!!!

Spoiler :
What did all the leaders have in common?

Did you notice anything else?

 :dunno:

Well, there's a lesson for us mapmakers, maybe next year if we remember, we should give you a few more days to finish the February games.

You left out the part of my quote that gave the answer
Spoiler :
They all have different traits in BtS.
Spoiler :
edit, to clarify, their traits in Vanilla are different from their traits in BtS
Old School
Spoiler :
Did you notice anything else?
I spent a lot of time selecting leaders that were different between Vanilla and BtS.
Guess there wasn't anything else.

The UN theme was a bust too. Maybe next time I should restrict victories to Diplomatic victories. :mischief:
