Correct me if I am off here someone, but with a mystery map, an OCC game, and domination as the victory condition, we need a coastal start to ensure a sure chance at victory?

EDIT: Nevermind, for some reason I was having a flashback and thinking in Civ4 naval terms.

dont really want to go liberty - but it gives you chivalry earlier. just doesnt seem right to go that way!

Hmm I've never played OCC so I may be wrong here, but I'm wondering about this starting position as I don't see any decent food tiles anywhere?

I was thinking about moving to the shore to be able to build some ships, but that's probably not a good idea as we want to maximize production right?

I'll probably do a practice OCC before doing this one (TSG14 maybe).

If we start a few tiles inland, then chances are that most of the AI will, too, and ships won't be that important.

Yeah, I'm not sure how to approach it either. I've never played an OCC game. I think I should take at least one practice session. OCC with Domination doesn't seem natural. And Liberty doesn't seem natural either. But is Liberty still worth it, just for the Great Person?! If so maybe Liberty really is as overpowered as some people think.

that's what i ended up doing... like i do every game I'm so boring

I'm playing a practice game now. Tried skipping Liberty, building a Library early, then seeing if I could build Great Library later to catch Chivalry. Didn't work. missed by 7 turns I think. will end up getting Chivalry at turn 122 now. I'm sure you got to Chivalry much earlier with Liberty.
