This game MUST be played in Warlords patch version 2.08. We will NOT accept any games played under any other patch versions, and you can't play it in vanilla (plain) Civilization4!

Further, it MUST be played using the latest version of HOF mod for Warlords. This is currently version 2.08.004

Game settings:
Civilization: Egypt (Leader: Ramesses II. Traits: Spiritual & Industrious)
Rivals: 6
Difficulty: Prince
Map: Terra
Mapsize: Standard, Cylindrical
Climate: Temperate
Water level: low
Starting Era: Ancient
Speed: epic
Victory Conditions: All enabled
Other settings: Raging Barbarians

Ramesses II:
Ramesses II is Spiritual and Industrious; starting with Agriculture and The Wheel. Spiritual gives no anarchy period when switching civics or state religion, and double production speed of temples. Industrious gives +50% production on wonders, and allows double production speed of forges.

Unique unit: War Chariot (The Wheel and Animal Husbandry)
The War Chariot replaces the standard Chariot. It has the same stats as the standard chariot in every way, except it has strength 5 instead of 4, an in addition it is immune to first strikes.

Unique building: Obelisk (Mystisism)
The Obelisk replaces the monument. The only difference between this and the standard monument is that the Obelisk allows running 2 priest specialists.

The starting screenshot is here (Click for larger version)

Adventurer Class bonuses:
  1. Start with a free workboat.

Challenger Class Equalizers:
  1. Start knowing no technologies.
  2. All AI start with a worker.

Fascinating set-up for a game!

I totally missed the fact that we haven't played Ramesses II yet.
Haven't played Terra for a while, and raging barbs again! Looks like a good game for the barbarians.

Wait a minute! Did you forget to say that the aim of the game is to get the barbarians to win a cultural victory?
;)

Mh, I`m first...

Well actually I hate settling on top of a ressource. Moving the settler 1S would mean one lose the crab but also means one gets three land tiles more. To explore that territory one need two rounds. For the moment I really don´t know if it is better to stay or to move the settler on top of that nice hills/plains tile. But the more I think about it the more I like to settle 1S.

Loosing the spice is not a great problem, but loose the crab is.
Only with that food resources you'll be able to work those plain hills, and they give enough hammers.
IMO settle in place is the best choice, since the warrior can't help and you risk to loose 2 turns if you find better go back in place.

Interesting settings, it's like a pangea if you're fast enough to conquest, and the UU is good if you can have it soon.

Just a hunch, but I'm going to bet the crabs are important to a city to the north, with some marble or metal. I'll make the daily double the fact that you won't be able to access the north city except by boat...

Anyone going to set up a test game?

Seems like only three choices: settle in place, settle 1S on hill, or settle 1SE on grass. That grass is the only cottage shot in the capital, it appears. But, if the blue circle SW is a good city spot, then maybe moving east to give it room and a food resource makes sense? Where is my crystal ball?

dV

Not much scope for cottages. Colossus required? Lots of food so chance to run plenty of specialists from early on. Nothing on show that will keep the people happy. With raging barbs destroying the fishing boats it could make for a long and unhappy struggle to victory.

Raging barbarian in terra map? the barbarian is going to have a land lead. Is it possible for barbarians to achieve domination victory in the other continents?

I can't think of a decent reason for anything but 1S, gives plains hill city bonus, gives good balance of food resource v mined plain hill (3v3), any reources lost can be picked up by other cities.

Quetion is how to use high production capital?? To grab a few early wonders or to pump out units in a bid for early conquest??

They will probably need to conquer a few cities on our continent first. However will be interesting if they are first to Astro!!! Can barbs gain the prize for being first to other milestones e.g. Music, Liberalism, Circumnavigation???

Oooh. I've been waiting for a Terra map. This will be fun. Raging barbs, too.

OK. Settle in place. Research to get fishing boats, then to Bronze Working, then sailing or Iron working. Build a couple of warriors then a work boat then a settler. I want to grab good city spots. Any barbs on land will be quickly crowded out. Barb ships might be an issue. I'll research enough techs to be productive, then research to get caravels and then Astronomy. I'll want to circumnavigate the globe first. I'll plan an invasion of the new world. Usually I build/upgrade at least three galleons and ship a settler and about eight macemen to build a foothold in the new world. That first city, if possible, should be on a hill. The barbs will flood out of their cities and attack. I expect massive attacks. I'll keep shipping military and a few workers.

I look forward to this game.

Terra maps (that I've seen) tend to have quite a lot of land and not so much coast, so this screenshot may be a bit deceptive in implying we're on a watery world. The water level is low too, so there could Really be a lot of land on this one. So. If that turns out to be true the Colossus and the Great Lighthouse might not be very important.
I'll probably go space again. Settling in place might be a good idea- with so much food the capitol can crank out settlers and workers while also pulling in some coins. Even running a couple of scientists it'll be good for this. I'll want the Pyramids, so scads of early workers for chopping (and then cottaging hundreds of tiles) fits my plans perfectly. This start location isn't great long-term as a science capitol, but this time I plan to wise up and move the palace to a super-science (and more central) location anyway.

Question: do we get an extra coin for settling on the spices?

IMHO, settling in place is the best choice.

ppl, terra map is smth. like continents?

P.S. 2Gyathaar: War chariot has also immune to first strikes.

It looks like we are near, or at, the northern end of the continent, since there is tundra and pine forest north of us. I doubt we can count on having any good city locations further in that direction, and given the lay of the land it'll either require boats or a lot of walking to get up there in any event. So I'm not swayed by the argument that the crabs might be best saved for a later city. They could always be shared, anyway.

However, I might move the Settler and the Warrior onto the space one south of start. And then on turn 2 use the Warrior to see if there's another resource within range in that direction. If so, that hill would probably be a better place for the capital then the starting spot. But the starting location is really quite good, even if it does mean settling on top of the Spices.

I get the impression that there isn't going to be a lot of nice territory near where we start. And in my experience the Old World on Terra maps tends to be crowded. It could be a struggle to build many good cities, but capturing them...

Would perhaps agree with you on the first point as it looks like there is tundra up there and tundra tends to be a hungry place to live.

i try to start the HOF mod for Warlords but get a Runtime Error during execution.. anybody familiar with this problem? I have my own copy of warlords (no pirate-copy).
