This is the thread for all the discussion (and mock drafts) of this april's NFL Draft. Since we already got a discussion going in the college bowl prediction thread all post all relevant comments here:

You think it would be better for him to do another season in college or to go straight to the NFL?
That's in reference to Vince Young.

Draft stock wise, it'll never be higher, so he should come out now if he wants to be the number one pick. It all comes down to priorities, if he wants to win the Hiesman he'll come back (though that doesnt' mean he'll get it), if he feels satisfied in his accomplishments or just wants the millions that will await him in the nfl, he'll go. But honestly, the odds are that if he does come back he won't be the top pick of the draft next year (like Lienart would have been last year if he would have entered, but not now), and that could cost him a few million.

Bush and Leinart will probably both go ahead of him. Young is big and strong and crappy defenses like USC make him look good but running about like that he'll get murdered in the NFL. Defenses are way to fast and strong. Against Ohio State, the best rush defense in the country and probably the best defense in the country (when you consider the offenses they played) shut him for most of the game. He had one big run initially catching the players off guard but AJ Hawk and the rest of the crew kept him at bay. If only the Buckeyes could have capitalized off the turnovers.

Leinart looked pretty good in yesterdays game. One thing I'm not sure about. He has pretty good presence and sense in the pocket but when this guy gets hit he takes it really badly. Not saying that the Texas db/lb was soft on him on the hit at the end of the 1st half but most other QBs (even on the college level) get back up and back to work. The Nebraska QB was hammered 70% of the pass plays vs Michigan but he kept getting back up. If Leinart is going to fall over so easily in college, people like Ray Lewis or Rodney Harrison will make mince meat out of him. If the USC offensive line didn't hold Texas d-linemen as much we'd see a lot more Leinart on the ground (bad officiating).

As for Leinarts value, its probably higher going into the draft this year. He looks like overall a better QB even if he didn't win another NC (means nothing in the NFL). He would have been picked first last year while Bush will probably go before him but he'll get an equally large deal. I think the Texans will cave in to the fans and take Bush, Leinart goes to New Orleans and Vince Young a bit further down. If Houston does not take Bush and he does well we'll all look back at it as the stupidest decision ever (up there with Portland not taking Michael Jordan). However it will be tough for Bush to do anything without an offensive line.

Regarding the draft:

I agree that Vince Young will probably not be a truly great NFL QB, and he'll probably go after Bush and Leinart.
Bush could be effective at Houston, maybe. He's easily better than Carnell Williams at any rate . . .

I think we should get 32 people, each take a team, and have a 7-Round Mock Draft. That would be pretty fun.

That's sounds fun, I'm up for it. When are we going to start this mock, after the combine?

After the last day to declare.
But first we need 32 people, that will be hard.
I'm in.
This will be the list for people in.

well if we don't get 32 people, some of us can always take a second team

I would do it except I don't know anything about the NFL so I wouldn't know what the teams needs and my college knowledge is pretty much limited to things inside the Pac-10. I'll do it if you guys need someone later.

Sounds fun, except for researching at least 265 (?) people to go through. You'd have to be an expert to know that much.

You don't have to be an expert, there's plenty of mock drafts to look at sround the web.

MattBrown In, Short Guy In?

I'm in.
My money says that Detroit picks another reciever first round. Who will it be, Santonio Holmes or Jason Avant?

I'll do it!

I love football (draft included)!

1 more in. Everybody try getting people you know like football on these forums in.

Just start pming NFL 2005 posters. Click on the replies link to see who replied to it (but you probably knew about that).

I don't know that much, but I'll try my best. Count me in!

Vick Kicked Off VT!
Marcus Vick might be a choice in the draft, seeing that he isn't on VT anymore.

Hard to believe he'd be a first day selection, though. With his
off field/behavior history, I'd peg him no better than 5th round.

BTW, does anyone know if his brother tried to help him?
