Did I miss it, I'm pretty sure I was the first to circumnavigate the world, but no bonus at all, not so much as a Eureka! :(

That's a bummer. I enjoyed that in every Civ. Was it 4 that actually had it as a wonder (Magellan's expedition)? I can't remember.

I miss this too - really gave you an incentive to get out and explore!

Sounds like a mod that needs to happen! :)

Huh, didn't notice that. In both games I've played I was on one side of a continent and both major continents in the game stretched from pole to pole making naval circumnavigation impossible

FYI: The circumnavigation bonus existed up until Civ IV, but it was NOT present in Civ V.

Ha. This happened in both my games as well. I had to find another ocean to settle on to meet the other half of civs in my games.

It won't be a Eureka moment because some maps are flat (can't be circumnavigated). Otherwise I think it would have been.

Well, in those cases maybe they change it to "side to side" - discover both (or all 4?) edges of the map. Or it just doesn't exist in those games. Not a big deal.

You could still do it if you had a city on each sea.

Yeah, a "you've discovered the edges of the world" would be cool!
