No exploration

I'm pretty sure that there is no cheat for removing the black mask over the map board, but if there is one please let me know?

Also, that black mask is a .pcx file somewhere on the HD. And I know if I edit it to a clear color the map will be revealed.

I can't find the file name. Anyone know what it is?

(I've done this before and I had to re-install the game, but forgot what I did.

I think the .pcx file you're finding for is under Terrain folder called FogOfWar.pcx

Have not tried doing that though, does it really work?
And there's no cheat I know of that reveals the world map except retiring to get a bird's eye view of the world.

I 'accidentally' deleted that file, and yes, it does make the fog of war dissappear. The unexplored areas do look a bit grainy though. I don't think you can see the enemy moves though...

There is also a graphic mod that lightens the black so you can see the terrain, however, you don't see cities, etc. until you would have discovered them exploring. I bet it's the same way if you delete that FogOfWar.pcx

Wow you guys actually tried removing the file so that you could view the tiles of the unexplored areas? It's like trying to figure what color are the panties of a girl and you come up will a mirror on your foot!!! No thanks I don't cheat

That's it. Thanks a lot All I had to do was change the file name. I thought that I had to alter the actual graphic file. I'm glad you pointed out about deleting the file.

And to others.... I hate exploring without an auto scout feature. And I'm pretty sure the AI doesn't have to explore as I do. To each their own way of having fun.

I think a lot of the game fun is uncovering all of that black, but to practice at high levels such as Diety, I wouldn't mind trying a mod pack that showed a little more info than darkness.
