One thing, and one thing only ruined SMAC for me. I believe they were called "idealogies".
In theory, it sounds like an excellent idea. In practice it turned out to be far from that.
I played peacekeepers mostly, sometimes morgans. Even as peacekeepers it was IMPOSSIBLE to keep everyone happy, because of idealogies. The AI would ALWAYS eventually declare war on you because of the different idealogies.
Anyway I hope that this feature will not be included in Civ3. Or if it is, I hope that the result is not always war. I mean, in SMAC even if the idealogies were just a tad bit different (say the difference between the US and Canada) then there would be war.
