It's been a while since I played Civ III and I recently installed it again, this time on my recently bought new computer with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Installation was a bit tricky but I managed and the game starts with XP-SP2 compatibility mode.
Too bad the intro movie (intro.bik) starts with weird graphics (with the Atari logo) but this becomes normal when the Firaxis Games + logo appears on-screen. But that isn't really my issue, my issue is that I hear absolutely no music during the intro movie. The sound in-game is absolutely normal, so after all this isn't a huge issue but I like it to be solved.
I was able to run the intro.bik with RAD Video Tools from Bink and Smacker with a very nice result: no weird graphics and excellent music. But that's not the way I want to enjoy the intro.
Do I need a specific codec for the intro-music, and if so which one? I allready installed the codec-pack "Win7codecs" from Shark007.net.
Hope someone can help me out.
Just in case some of my computer specs:
- i7-920 2,67GHz
- 6GB RAM
- ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB DDR5 (with latest driver from ati.com / amd.com)
- Realtek HD Audio (onboard with latest driver installed)
Edit: I installed the patch 1.29f.
