No Leaderheads

Well, I have an idea to fix the leaderhead problem. When Warlords came out, Mehmed II would cause a CTD as soon as the player met him in the game. The pre-patch workaround was to replace the Mehmed artwork with Sid Meier artwork so that Sid would take the place of Mehmed in the game. (Yes, there is a Sid Meier leaderhead buried in the game). So, my thought was to take the Warlords artwork for the leaders in warlords and copy that to the new BTS artwork files. This might fix the graphics for all the old leaders, but not the new ones, sadly. Is this a good idea? Maybe someone with the right knowledge could answer it.

I have a GEForce2 MX400. I just see the 3D animated hair and eyelashes of the leaderheads, no faces.

No one has posted for a while about how crappy it is that the leaderheads do not work so here ya go. Also for the record, thanks for making an enjoyable part of the game the thing that makes me not want to play it. See if you my $$ for civ V.

Don't know if anyones still having this problem but I upgraded my video card yesterday with a Radeon 9550 (256mb). Only $99 Canadian, took about 10 minutes to install.

And now EVERY single graphical problem I've ever had with this game is gone including the leaderheads, the black spots on the mini map, everything. The game runs amazing now.

So just confirming what everyone thought that it IS the pixel shading.
Id recommend just upgrading your video card, wish I would have done it along time ago.

I just got a new card and it works fine now. I have high res detail now and the game looks totally different

After patch 3.13 I still can't see leaders.Now instead of a transparent screen I get a black screen. I don't understand why they can't fix this.Why should I have to upgrade my card when everything worked fine before BTS.

I've got the same problem as zoomzoom. After installation BtS and patch 3.13 my leaderheads are looking like this:

Also, my religion movies are like this one:

The wonder movies are working properly. My polish friends adviced me to install the Omega drivers. When i did it, the leaderheads and religion are fixed, but now i've got another problem:

Mainboard - ECS K7VZA
Processor - AMD Duron 750 MHz
RAM - 384 MB SDRAM
Graphics - GF 440 MX 64MB

You computer is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay below the necessary specs. 384 MB RAM? How on earth is XP running
You could try using NeverMind's static Leaderheads, Religion Movies and Wonder Movies.

Ok, i'll try leaderheads and religion movies, but my wonders are working normal. I still don't know how Civ is running on my PC but it's possible . Also my graphics is working without cooling for 2-3 years And this is total madness And thanks for greeting

Well, since I have a laptop, it's not possible for me to just get a new video card. Surely there's a special fix that can be applied to provide non-shader animations?

I waited like 4 months for it before I gave in. I don't think there will be a solution for it ever. I know how much it sucks trust me.

I'm having the same problems too, after reading everything in this thread, hoping that there is a solution in the end(except having a new video card), I'm very disappointed that there is none, even with patch 3.13. Guess I'll have to stick with warlords

Hi there, I know how you're feeling. But the game did have the requirement of haveing a graphics card with shaders. You'll just havev to get a new gfx card.

At last I've repaired the problem ! When I installed newer graphics drivers leaderhead and religion movies have been repaired. There is still blac screen behing them, but they are working.

I'm still wary of the patch. Seems everytime I download a patch, everything goes all wonky and I like the game the way it is now.

As it turns out, I was able to update my driver and that helped. I'm still having blackouts in the mini-map, but the leaderheads are working now witht he driver update.
