No multiplayer = Half A$$ Job

This is utter crap. Yea I knew about it shipping without mp but that is absolute crap. Playing against a human opponent is a bit more interesting than whooping the living crap outta the comp (unless it's cheating which is totally gay). This is a great example of what is happening to this friggin industry. They ship out the game in half-ass condition and expect you to still buy it!! Those of you who are going to reply "Don't worry, they will come out with a patch for multi-player support", don't bother.

I'm gonna take the game back to EB and get my money back. Yea, I still bought it just in hopes that the single player would be fun and challenging but it's not. Then when this game is 'complete' I will get a hacked version because I will not support a bunch of lazy ass greedy developer's.

Civ was never really meant to be multi-player. Sure it's nice, and cool to play against other people, but that was never the game's focus. I don't care if they NEVER add multi-player.

I've only got Civ2 classic and so I've never played civ multiplayer. i am hoping one day to be able to but I don't mind waiting. i think the same people that are whinging over the lack of the multiplayer would be the ones whinging if Firaxis pushed back the release date 3 or 4 months.

Firaxis\Infogrames are not running a public service! I wish people will get it into their heads that games companies will try to squeeze every last penny out of us! If you don't like it, don't buy the games! i don't see anyone else making Civ3 and selling it cheaper! N.B. I am not criticising Firaxis in any way, they are out to make money and I think any one of the people complaining about being ripped off would do exactly the same in their position so could everyone just STOP WHINING!

FYI, The customer is NOT king! The customer is a customer! They don't have to bend to your every demand. They are not a pupet you can control. They spent around two years hammering away on their keyboards, and the only thanks they get it: "You guys suck 'cause you're so lazy!"

I never have played a session of CIV multiplayer!
not once in my 10 years playing!

no preset positions!

Of course, that's what the editor is for. I haven't used it much yet, but the editor is simply AMAZING!

CoolLizy - I actually have a bunch of friends and we still play Civ 2 MP. It's much more fun than playing a comp opponent. And yes they did do a half-ass job and yes we (the paying public) will keep complaining because thats thier god-given right (if your USA). So stop your self-righteous single player crusade because that died about 3 years ago.

CurtSibling - Whats wrong with Half-life? hehe. Na, I'm an old school RTS'er and still love Turned Based Strategy as well.

Well actually, after chewing the cud with various
US players, they tell me,
the editor does not make these kind of changes,

In fact there is no way to set real world locations,
on any map without hex-editing the game code!

Now does the editor fix that?

It is a quarter ass job I think,first they reduced the civilisations,second it is not a quantum leap over civ 2,Civ2 does a quantum leap over civ1.second,no wonder movie?it is one of the good impression i have with civ2.Crazy negotiations,the developer is not ambitious enough.They said they are going to release the patch soon,whats the ****ting use?U should fully released the game with patch.Not release then come with patch.I bet all of you think here will say the developer has no patience or THEY JUST LOVE PATCHS TOO MUCH!

Really, Ic3, I've heard this all before. Since when is single-player dead? One of the best selling games around last year was Rollercoaster Tycoon, which was and is SINGLE PLAYER.
When you buy a single player game, expect the multi-player facet to be a little less done because that's not what they're focusing on. In short, DON'T BUY SOMETHING IN HOPES THAT IT IS SOMETHING ELSE.
Sure MP is fun, one of my favorite games of all time is Super Bomberman 2 - A game which thrives on MP. But this is Civ, not SB2, expect the expected.
Now please go complain somewhere else, we're tired of listening to it.

1) Reduced it from what? Remember, these civs aren't all the same thing with different colors. Each has it's own unique features. 16 unique civs are better than 150 civs that are exactly alike but with different names.

2) Civ2 was auguably a quantum leap BACK from Civ1. I didn't like Civ2 because they basically just added more stuff instead of streamlining and improving what was already there.

3) No wonder movie. Of course not! They were neat at first, but got old fast. They weren't really all that great, either.

Remember, if you don't like the game, USE THE EDITOR!

I will say sorry if I have offended the civilisation.Civilisation is my first computer game, I loved it so much,it is not that we all hate civ,we have dreamed so high of civ3.We all thought that civ2 will be the last version of civilisation upon seeing the company being sold here and there.We put so much hopes!IT IS GOOD U SEE PEOPLE COMPLAINING,IT SHOWS WE DO LOVE CIVILISATIONS!!

Besides planting the seeds of a flame war and insulting me, exactly what did was I supposed to get out of that. SB2 rules, and so do single player games. Just because more people seem (key word there) to like MP better than SP, that doesn't make it a MP world.
And, by the way, since when does your opinion count for more than mine?
