No music!

Everything runs fine except there's no music playing!! Help!!

Try zooming in - music only seems to be audible for me when zoomed (almost) all the way in

got the same problem. i got a soundblaster live!. so far no one could provide a solution for this. i also had to apply the ATI pak file fix, could that have something to do with it? i also tried various speaker settings from within the game, but no luck. if i set a custom music file to be the soundtrack file, music plays but then it plays all of it. i really like the music and i think it greatly adds to the atmosphere, so i would appreciate any suggestions. i uninstalled all codec packs previously because they used to give me hard time with some games (aoe3) so i don't think they could be the problem.

Yeah I've found out that the music only plays when zoomed in! How rubbish is that? Is there a way of changing it??

I have the exact same issue so it must be this build. Seems to have no option in the sound menu to have music playing all the time. Its only when zoomed in and over a settlement that it plays. Which is all well and good but since im always zoomed out to take a strategic perspective it would be nice to have the option to hear the music here too.

i kept on playing and noticed that the music is absent only during the ancient period. when you move to the next era, it starts playing normally (when zoomed out also). i found a post with a same problem, but no solution still. it looks like this is an another thing to adress in the patch. i'm sick of buying games and waiting for patches so i could enjoy them properly. it's like reading a book with missing pages here and there.

I have this same problem though I didn't notice until starting a second or third game. The zoomed in music is specific for each civ (that is French have different music than Russian) and only when over a city of that civ. The zoomed out music is age specific (btw I really like the industrial and modern music better now than in civ3). Has anyone had the ancient era music work while zoomed out? Then we know it is a bug and not a problem with our particular sound hardware configurations.

I can't hear the ancient era music unless I zoom nearly to the max, I just hate that!
