Am I doing something wrong or does your capitol not get the 50% hammer boost from railroad connection?

Ok, so maybe a 50% hammer bonus just for a rail hookup / harbor is pretty insane. But if it's there, it should be available for all your cities. And seeing as I'm currently playing OCC...it really sucks.

Yeah, its lame, capital should get the bonus as soon as a single other city is connected.

Capitol also needs to earn trade income from population. Because it does not, its generally more effective to stunt growth once you set up a second city in order for that city to grow larger and earn more trade income. Its unintuitive and runs counter to what players should be doing. Its only wise to grow your capitol if you grab the -33% unhappiness Tradition SP.

Well Ideally it should be
Minimum of Capital+Connected city used for Trade route value, so there is some reason to have a big capital.

The Railroad Bonus is somewhat more complicated. Having it a soon as the Capital is connected seems like the easiest.

Agreed. Capital pop should still matter somehow.

Well the other issue is if it were changed to "apply bonus when 1st city is connected via rail", you still wouldn't be able to get it on OCC. But getting 50% production just for teching RR seems kind of dumb as well.

The lesser evil.
The game isn't designed around OCCs.
And you can still puppet, no?

That makes an OCC Domination game actually Easier...
All you have to do is hold the enemy capital for the time to raze it.
(Of Course that might put that AI at permanent War with you.)

I'm not familiar with OCC Domination, but I've won a few Domination games and all I had to do was capture the capital(s), not raise them.

You have to keep the original civ from getting it back. And you Can't Raze it in a non-OCC game.

Razing is the Easy way to stop someone from getting it back.
