No servers visible after loading a mod.

I'm trying to play Caveman2Cosmos with a friend, but we can't see each other's games in the lobby. BUG mod alone gives us the same problem, but Next War works and so does vanilla BTS 3.19. We're both using C2C v21. What makes a mod refuse to work in multiplayer?
