Hello,

I am having a problem getting sound to work with Civilization 4 version 1.61.

I KNOW my computer is more than capable of handling the game, and I KNOW I have the correct settings on my sound card, as I can open up windows media player and get sound.

I have tried adjusting the in-game sound options, and still no avail.

Below is a copy of some of the info on my DXDIAG file.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide,

Inarus

I am having the same problem. I get great audio in any other game or program, just not Civ 4. Help?

Okey, this solution is as wierd as is the problem. I spent several hours searching for the solution. I have ASUS M2N-Plus Vista edition motherboard (but I use XP of course) and it has CM6501 onboard audio chip (some sorth of USB audio chip). I have no problems with other games, only with Civ4. After reading several articles about problems with CM6501 I desided to try "activating" the chip before launching Civ4. So i first launched WOW but didn't sign on (I haven't tried this with other games), I left it running on background and then launched Civ4 and I had sounds. Well for me this is good enough, now I can start playing Beyond the Sword.
