[non-mad mode] 4 gripes:
First, there is 440 MEGS of stuff on m hard drive that civ3 installed and I don't want. The directories are "movies", "diplomusic", "flics", and "build". Can I delete these?
Second, the game takes WAY too long to start up,load a game, edit a bic file, wait between turns, to exit and enter a city, and use an adviser. Yes I only have 32 Megs of RAM but still.
Third, I don't want to use it's default resolution but it won't load in my 800,600 or it changes it to something MUCH too large. "keepres=1" does nothing.
Fourth, corruption is still WAY too high. I have 2 cities "Rome" a pop of 3 and "Veii" a pop of 1. Rome's corruption is small or zero but Veii's waste is 50%. That means than 5000 out of Veii's 10000 people are criminals. Yes I am using depositism and have no improvements or WOWs but I changed the rules to have the government set to minimal corruption. Out of my 3 shields 1 is waste and my 3 commerce 2 go to tax and 1 to science waste. Waste shouldn't be that high (in my opinion) for a city 13.5 squares away from the capital. Is there any way of lowering it to no more than 15% on chieftain and depotism and no buildings except a palace in my capital?[/non-mad mode]

Finally the words you've been waiting to hear.
ARGH I NEVER swear but...
When I installed civ3 700 Megs may be normal but I have 440 Megs of some sort of VIRUS on my computer just eating away stuff. I don't WANT these idiotic time-consuming, space-hogging files. What kind of ****head thought of that?????
I spend at least 200% of my time waiting. The worst offender I have ever seen at least lets you do SOMETHING a day. Even go to the bathroom. That's what *******s are for. Maybe the programmers should crawl up it. (I am also a programmer but I would never make such a HEINOUS program)
I have my res set to 800,600 for a reason. I like that. What gave firaxis the god-like ability to decide what my favored resolution should be? Civ2 worked just fine on my computer and still does. Gees, it's like paying $150 for a small TG then getting charged $10000 for some stupid, ****ed-up non-working box of junk with the courts on the side of the enemy. I spent 80 dollars on the game but it seems to be only worth negative infinity. I can't even play it.
What the **** was the designers thinking about when they put this much corruption in the game. I have 2 people in each of my adjacent apartments. occurding to Sid and co. 2 of them are EVIL, SINFUL, SATANIC, CROOKED, LAWLESS, DESPICABLE and just plain VILE people. All four though are actually good, against the wishes of "the almighty firaxis bastard designer team" If you can't at least get rid of obvious unplayable ****ing GET OUT OF THE BUSINESS.
[/mad and possibly bannable mode]
Well I guess that is $80 dollars down the drain. Maybe I'll get lucky and the designers will come up with a patch to at least tone down corruption.
15% on the worst non-anarchy GOV while maybe 1% on the best. Even anarchy should only get 50% waste.
Well IF they come up with a patch that acceptable maybe I'll play. I definitely didn't spend 12 hours strait with civ3 like I did with civ 1 and 2. But if they don't come up with a decent patch Maybe some lowly ****-for-brains (whoops this isn't the bannable part) will buy it without a huge loss for me.
If they don't fix these simple errors any loser (sorry again) could find they lost another costumer, yeah like they care what the most intelligent person here (no offence to you people with IQs over 100, none of which can like the waste as it is) thinks. As long as the majority (probably everyone but me, no you don't count if your gripe is lack of multi-player) likes it Sid, Firaxis, and Infrogrames is happy.
Let's see if how may replies and reads this gets before being closed, or even deleted. Maybe the mods at CFF will just delete the "R-rated" parts and leave the useful suggestions. In any case I'll probably be leaving for a while, as if you care.

P.S. (real suggestion) if civ3 save games are liek 3 meg then how do we attach them?

OK people, if you're not going to answer the "mad" part at least look at the respecitable questions. The civ3 site Q&A talks about not being able to control EVERY city in my empire. Except the capital, I can't control ANY. It also talks about distance and using a better form of government. I edited that and it does't work. Obviously It will tone down corruption COMPLETLY, but are there any improvements or small wonders that completly eliminate it or at least put it down to like 1% rounded down? Or can I edit the palace to do that? I could make the building free and play without waste at all. It would be different than what the design team wanted but at least I think it would be playable.
Basically any more corrpution than 10% for 20 squares from the palace is too much, I think at least. If a patch allowed actual percent numbers to be put in for govs in lieu of vague words then could help quite a bit.
Also do you have any answers to my other 3 questions? About the large directories, speeding it up and using a lower resolution.
In the editor ther are two building options called "center of empire" and "reduces corruption". How much does the "reduces corruption" one actually do and does "center of empire" mean I can only have 1 of that building like a small wonder?
Hopefully these are asked nice enough not to scare any of you away from answering. I really would like to play civ3 but the corruption is just too much.
The only other thing I can think of is to make a WOW act like a palace in all my cities. But that in favor me tremendously over the computer. Could the next patch allow small wonders to be "global improvements" as well as normal WOWs?
Also sorry about double posting and bumping but this corruption issue is basically preventing me from having any fun with civ3. I'm even thinking about what to do next when I'm not playing but then I realize it would be no fun.

Do what a lot of people is doing and toggle "reduces corruption flag" on religous, economic and cultural buildings. You can also change the "max nr of cities before corruption goes up" figure in the editor.
On another note: GET more ram - 32 meg ram might let you play civ 2 which is 4 years old, but any game newer than that will be slow without more memory.
