..or isn't it?

While searching for the remains of Noah’s Ark on Mount Ararat in Eastern Turkey, a Chinese-Turkish exploration team successfully excavated and ventured inside a large wooden structure at an elevation of more than 4,000m above sea level. Wood specimens were dated as 4,800 years old. Officials of Turkish government and Cultural Ministries highly regarded the finds and jointly announced the discovery with the exploration team in Hong Kong. They planned to submit an application for the wooden structure to be included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. A mutual agreement for further co-operation was signed and the Hong Kong team members were recognized as Honorable Citizens of Agri Province, Turkey. In the press conference on April 25, Consul General of Turkey, Mr. Mehmet Raif Karaca, was invited to come and support the great achievements of the exploration team in the aspect of the search for Noah’s Ark.

True or untrue?

Perfection is completely right about this. Not least because a wooden ship would have decayed to nothing by this time anyway, even if it ever really existed. Which it didn't. As dot cleverly said, if they actually found anything at all it would be a mine. That would be underground and therefore preserved, probably petrified by now. A wooden ship on the surface would be long gone.

How can you fit 7 of every clean animal and 2 of every unclean animal in a boat that a tiny asian woman can barely fit inside

The ancient astronaut theory was clearly correct. Noah, who was obviously a "Grey" alien to fit inside this thing, took the sperm and ovum of animals rather than the whole thing. Think about it.

I gotta go with Perf here, not the Ark, because the Great Flood is a myth, a very old myth.

Well Ceasar's existence is supported by countless other sources.

As is Augustus. But

Because it was in the Bible. Course, Augustus Caesar was also mentioned in the Bible, so I guess that makes him a fable too.

is just flawed reasoning (in this case unjustified generalization); the Noah story and Augustus are mentioned in quite different parts of the bible. Augustus is mentioned in the NT, amongst other incidents which largely refer to actual persons and events. Flood stories are mentioned in many ancient origin stories and generally refer to some actual flooding; the stories themselves however can hardly be considered factual.

There was no Ark, that's a Jewish myth. There probably was a flood/s of some sort around the time of the end of the last Ice Age around 10,000 BCE that was probably witnessed, survived and told through generations by ancestors of people like Sumerians (Epic of Gilgamesh) and Indo-European language speakers (Vedas, Greek mythology) etc that passed to other cultures.

4 votes only... Sure, despite the certainty of the posters here and the reasons for not being true, it's cheaper and you don't have to feel bad for not keeping your word if it turns out it really was the ark.

Problem with the poll is that only those voting to pay up if not true are the ones who'll actually do it.

I thought I heard some Christians on TV say they found the ark somewhere else a few years back. How many were there?

The remains of a ship in over 4000 m height... yeah, sure...

There may very well have been an exceptional flood at one time in Mesopotamia - a tale very similar to that of Noah is related in Sumerian legends and likely found its' way from there into the Bible - but there is no conceivable way any flood could reach 4000 m. So, story fail....

I'll be waiting for a source a little more credible than "noahsarksearch" on a search by Hong Kong Evangelists before making a decision.

Funny thing is, when I click on the newspaper thingy with the quote: "There is tremendous amount evidence etc etc, I get send to a page with chinese newspaper pictures.
