Thank you Duke for firming up the language on the VP description. Can we get this written into the constitution to help eliminate questions in the future?

And thank you Eyrei for the nomination. Again I must respectfully decline the nomination as again, I wil not be seeking any elected position this election.

I regret to inform you all that I will not be accepting nominations, as I will not be able to attend many chat sessions and I do not have as much free time as I thought I did. I will attend all of the meetings I can, but I am afraid I will have to take a back seat in all of this. I will not be looking at the forums too often, but I'll try as much as possible. I second the nomination for Justus II as the culture leader, I think he deserves it more than I do anyway.

I see the constitutional debates have flared up again.:satan: I do hope that we continue to clarify these issues as they arise and officiallly write any changes and/or clarifications into the constitution. Once the history of Phoenatica is written we may decide we want to do this again and the better we make our constitution now, the easier and more enjoyable a second demo game will be.: That said I must put in my two cents on some things.

Someone posted earlier that the VP seems to be a rather useless or powerless office. Isn't it supposed to be? Look at the VP office in the US constitution. That office has very little power. In our constitution this is alleviated by the possibility that the VP can also be a department leader.

I've been wondering how our VP was to be chosen. I had thought that the VP was to be the runner up in the Presidential election - and this is what has been indicated by one of our moderators (our Supreme Court?). In fact all department deputies are to be the runners up in the respective elections. I will only point out that this was the first method the US constitution used for picking a president and vice-president and it was quickly abandoned once we ended up with a President and VP who held opposing views.

I noticed in reading the constitution that only the president can initiate cabinet votes.

Perhaps it should be written into the constitution that the game's moderators have the final say in the interpretaiton of our constitution.

I have summarized the nominations to date in the first post of this thread. please check it out!

Also, the constitution allows citizens to run for two positions maximum (section C, point 8). Since we may end up with some nominated for more than two positions I urge nominees to make their preferences known!

The nomination process is NOT closed yet. The election should begin on the 29th day of the term - April 29 in this term. Four more days for nominations!

Colonel Falcon02: I thought the VP was to be the runner up in the presidential election and therefore not a position that needs nominations. Also I think ssmith619 has declined the nomination as Cultural Leader.

I'm extremely surprised and gracious with the vote of confidence from my peers. I really would like to thank all those who consider me capable and a good idea person. I didn't think I was being very functional at all, words escape me right now

Ill accept my nominations, but Shaitan, you'd do a much better job then me as Foreign advisor.

I will accept my gracious nomination for a Citizen cabinet position. Furthermore, I will also gladly welcome the others running for this position.

I have a lot of free time that I spend in the chats and forums. I hope I can do a good job accurately voicing the concerns and wishes of the people in the upcoming term! Time to go from being a Citizen with an opinion to one that represents many!

I very much appreciate being nominated! But I respectfully decline. A position of responsibility would not be a good thing for me.

I would like to express my appreciation for those who have nominated me for the position of Culture Minister, and pledge to do my best to be worthy of their confidence. I have been very interested (and ocasionally opinionated) in the progress of the game so far, and welcome the opportunity to serve our administration as best I can.

Yikes!:aargh:

Holy cow. I'm a criminal. I throw myself on the mercy of the court. No, wait...that wasn't me. It was 3 big dogs from the city. Yeah, that's the ticket. But, I'm willing to take a plea bargain and implicate the rest of my criminal brotherhood. Where's the smiley for :beat me with a wet noodle:?

Seriously though, I found the section Donsig is refering too and it does say that only the President can initiate a cabinet vote. I think it's talking about a cabinet vote to overrule a cabinet member or governor though. I'll start a thread to discuss.

I nominate Knight-Dragon for Culture Leader, Ohwell for At Large Cabinet Member and second the nomination of Civinator for Science Leader.

I would like to nominate myself for a Cabinet-at-large position.

Myself joining the Civ3 game from the very beginning, and having attended the more recent Chats, I feel I have the experience necessary for some sort of leadership position, and, along with the ambition for such a position, the time and dedication to attend and participate in the Chats.

*National Anthem starts*

With my firm stance against Pro Wrestling, Synchronized Swimming, and Jason X, I hope to garner the votes of people who are easily persuaded by the candidates' personal views on irrelevant subjects. ;)
:yeah:!

I'm not normally easy to persuade but golldurnit you hit 3 out of 3 there! You've got my vote!

I have updated the first post with the current nomination status as of 10:50 pm GMT, Sunday, April 28, 2002.

PS - I gladly accept the nomination for Domestic Leader.

I have decided to remain mayor of Fox Nest so I feel I must decline the nomination for governor of the third province.

I must also decline the nomination for At Large Council Member. There are many good citizens already nominated for these two positions.
