Hi Guys, Long time reader but first time poster on this excellent forum.

Was wondering if someone could please explain to me how to use, in Civ 5, a map that I have created using the world builder tool? Sort of like the old "start on a pre-made world" option in Civilization 2...

I have created a map and saved it, now that I want to use it as far as I can see there is no option to load a map when starting a game... I can't find this in the mods options either.

I have tried using this guide:

http://www.pcgamer.com/2010/10/13/how-to-make-a-map-in-civilization-v/

But everytime I have the map checked and then I go to launch a single player game it doesn't load up the map.

I just want to play a map I have made, what am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance... :)

If you do as in the guide, you must use modbuddy and then you an only play your map if you start the game by clicking mods, which means you won't be able to use it for mp.
The easiest way is to save the map in your documents. Look for the Maps directory therein. There's also a Maps directory in the Steam/steamapps/civ 5 directory. I think the path is Assets/Maps but I don't have the game at hand so I'm probably wrong.

Thanks for the help, will give it a go and get back to you. I did try to load it as just a map before (rather than a mod), but I couldn't find the option in the game menu, either in multiplayer or single player. Any thoughts?

Cheers.

make sure you save your map into docs / games / civ 5 / maps

then when you go to MODS (legalese accept) -> Single player you can click on maps and select your saved map from there
