Noob Question - Apostolic Palace.

Long time Civ fan, first time BTS game.

What is with the Apostolic Palace?!?! Stupid Washington declared war on me back in the days of archers and spearmen. It took me until cuirassers to finish fending him off, take two of his cities (just because I was so angry) and declare peace. I had completely ignored religion and whatever everyone else was doing during this time.

And then, as soon as I declared peace the Palace asked me if I wanted to hand Seattle back to the Americans. Um - no. But the resolution passed and the city flipped with about 7 cuirassers and a whole bunch of musketeers in it. I reloaded and tried again, picking "Defy resolution" and I kept the city but now half of my cities have 5 unhappiness. That palace is evil.

Does anyone know how long this unhappiness will last? Or have any other way I can keep Seattle?

Uh - and they are now making the same proposal for the other city. Eeep.

The only way to keep the palace in in line is to build it yourself, or capture/ raze the city it was built in. defying resolutions has it's drawbacks, if you have more than one religion spread them throughout your realm ,build the temples and monasteries it'll help some with the happy points.
