is there any way to arm indians for use by your own nation? Example: arming a convert to use as an armed brave? or give it horses and guns to use as a mounted warrior? also, is there any way to use the european regular army troops such as the king's troops?

No to both questions, unfortunately. IIRC converts are only useful in "field" jobs eg farmers, fishermen.

But one of the founding fathers when you get him will change existing converts to an ordinary citizens. So you could get the armed unit through:

Indian convert -(founding father)-> citizen -> soldier -> cavalry

Yah i knew that, i figured there was an editor option that would let you do that....oh well:rolleyes: I think it would be neat to use some of the kings troops for a price or a specific resource to get rid of an annoying indian tribe or other civ city on an important island etc. Same with using the injuns

You could try to sell guns and horses to indians who are friendly with you. :) But it's always more effective to fight yourself.

Off topic but......is there any editor programs out there someone can send me?

You could always use the "Cheat" option which allows you to do rather drastic actions like creating a new unit or getting rid of Indian tribes. Treat it as scenario making ;)

There is a useful program which allows you to modify the save game file to hack a few things. I'll try to search for it in my backup archive.

Cool, sounds good man.
