Howdy! I'm actually new to civ3 and have been playing the game through the ages. I guess I'm a little behind in the times lately.

I've just got a simple question for you though. I'm playing civ3 and if I take over a city, no matter what city and where. The whole civilization crumbles along with it. There's not much gameplay to it, and not much challenge when it only takes me 1 city to kill the other civ off completely or somwhere else. :(

what option does this? and where do i disable it.

thanks!

Welcome to CFC!

Turn off the elimination option at game start.

I advise pushing the "default rules" button, then turning off the *culturally linked start locations (it is bugged). Most people here also turn off rhe respawn option.

The thing that usually messes up your settings is when you have tried a scenario, the defaults are then set to that scenario's default.

You can not change this in a game you are currently playing only by starting a new game, unless you use a third party savegame editor.

thanks!

Anyone know of any patches that might fix a portion of those buggy problems? also some 3rd party saved game editors might be handy.

The 'culturally linked' option is one of the bugs that is not fixed in the latest Conquests patch. It might work correctly in Civ 3Vanilla/Play the World, cannot remember.

The patches fix a lot of problems so be sure to get the latest for your version.
The complete verion does not need to be patched.

Go to the creation and customization forum on this site.

For a saved game editor try this, by Gramphos:

For some nice utility programs that do not necessarily involve cheating, try Ainwood's civassist or mapstat from the Crpsuite.
