Okay, I had Civ 3 the Gold Edition but eventually the disc got all scratched up and was unable to play. So I went out and isntead of buying the whole thing again I just got plain old Civ 3, installed it and had been playing it for a month or so. Well just today I decided to install the latest Civ 3 patch, well I installed it seemed to be fine, but now everytime I try to start it it asks for the game disc. It never used to even require a disc to be in there, but nevertheless I found the disc and put it in, but no matter what I do everytime I try to start it it says please insert game disc press okay and restart application. Can somebody help me out here?

The patches are funny. Be careful not to apply an unneeded patch.
For example, if I install vanilla, then conquests then apply a PTW patch I can't run PTW because it wants a PTW cd. But I didn't need the PTW patch since conquests has the latest PTW included.
So basically the patch can make your PC want to look for a different CD. You'll have to reinstall Civ3. When you do, check to see what version you're at. You may already be at the latest patch level unless you have one of the original CDs. (But then the patch would work.)
