Nothing from hut?

Playing as Catherine, I have noticed (several times) that on occasion I will get NOTHING from a hut. To me, it looks and kinda acts like a bug, or is this normal? There is no message saying "This villiage is abandoned" or anything like that.

BTW, I have a city established and know several techs (I heard somewhere that if you hadn't planted your initial city yet and the hut wanted to give you a tech but couldn't, then you got nothiing - or something along those lines).
 
Yes, but if I re-load and take a different route so that I pop the hut a turn or two later, I will get something.

In CivIII, if a hut gave nothing it always said "This villiage is abandoned". Maybe the bug is that it doesn't say anything? I'd feel better about it if the game would at least inform me that, yes, you popped a hut, but you get nothing. Sorry, try again.
 
One time I had a hut near me on my first turn. Popped it with my scout before settling and got nothing. Reloaded, settled the city first, and then popped it and got a tech.
 
I think it's a bug.

Like sometimes, when you DO get tech(s) from a hut(s), they remain colored blue on the tech tree, same as if you don't know them yet.

And the moral of this is "Always set up for re-seeding the random-number generator on reloading". If you don't do this. you'll get the same result every reload, or so I've found: making a different sequence of moves does not appear to lead to different results from huts or battles. Now then, everybody, howl me down with cries of "Wrong again !", but I'm sticking to my guns.
Getting nothing from a hut does happen, true, but very rarely.

Sometimes that'll just happen to me, not necessarily from hut-given techs, but science discovered techs. I'll go to my science screen and half my techs are blued out as if I haven't discovered them, but I can't research them.

It's frustrating, because I can't follow the tree to my hoped-for tech.
 
It;s a bug but with 'random seed upon load' on it has nothing to do with the sequence in which you enter the hut. Never witnessed the bug when I was dumb and played without 'random seed upon load'.

If you take the same number of turns to get to the hut, it will still pop the same thing. If you pop a hut, and don't like what it has, reload, wait a turn and try again. Sometimes it will pop the same thing three turns in a row but you will get something different.
