Now that's what I call a nice starting position! Let's see if I can make something of this ...

Can anyone say 4-turn settler factory?

Further exploration has revealed I'm on an island that's roughly 75% tundra. :( I'm thinking lots of mines and a run at a 20K victory.

ouch! 75% tundra, with the Zulu.
I agree with trooper. it looked like a good start but with the Tundra, the Zulu, and 20K victory I don't think it's going to be easy.

btw, 3000 posts :)

While the start was good, yes, it wasn't better than a 3 cow with river start (or even 2 cows). You simply need fresh water for those cows to irrigate, otherwise you need more population for your settler factory. In my current game I had 2 cows and a river, set up a 4 turn settler factory and could easily expand.

Good luck.

Congrats!

Move your settler to the scout's location and play OCC.

Anyway, I think it's a little too late for an OCC now that he already started

I moved my settler one square east. If I had known what awaited me, I probably would have gone to the scout's location, but oh well -- what's done is done. To make matters worse, that's the shoreline of an inland sea that's just big enough to be salt water. Argh!

I had a start with 5 cattle, and a river, plus 4 cattle in surrounding areas as the Aztecs in C3C. I had 3 settler factories out of that thing! Poor AI didn't stand a chance.
