Nuclear explosions often don't appear.

Hello,

Is this a known problem? Quite often when I fire a nuke, I see the opposing force's units being destroyed, but I don't get an explosion animation, or mushroom cloud, or anything. This sometimes happens with other ranged attacks, like Stealth Bombers - i.e. I can't see the bomber at all but it still hits the unit.

Well I can't account for the nukes but I have noticed what you are saying with stealth bombers. It usually happens when I click off them or onto another unit.

I had this problem on my old computer, but not once since. I'm guessing it's a graphics limitation issue. Usually if there are a lot of units (MIs, MAs, GDRs, etc.) on the screen at once or if you have a poor graphics card, you won't see it.

Do you have quick combat on? No animations are used.

Quick combat isn't on, no. Like I say, sometimes I see them, sometimes I don't. I don't think it's a graphics card issue either, because I've got a Radeon HD 5700 (1GB card). It plays Crysis and Crysis 2 sweetly, so I'm not sure it would fail with Civ!

It only seems to happen with Stealth bombers and nuclear explosions (both types - the B52 and the missile strike).

It's also not a problem with some kind of "quick combat" bug, because the strike still takes the same amount of time!

I occasionally get the same problem, and I have a GTS460, so it's unlikely to be graphics, as it's affecting both nVidia and ATI cards... it most likely is an obscure bug. Hopefully it'll get sorted soon.

There could be a corrupted file. You may want to varify the local cache under the game properties in steam. Do it a couple of times not just once.
