Does the AI start sucidial nuke wars with you anymore? Just wondering because in Civ2 the random nuke attacks pissed me off

You guys have a problem with answering legit questions? I'm about to bulid them and would like to know before spreading the tech to my allies.

The AI is more realistic now. It stockpiles nukes, but won't fire unless you do. I've done some nasty things to nuclear powers and they've only fired on me when I nuked them first. Nobody wants a nuclear war, including the AI. I keep a bunch of ICBM's in my most protected city, just in case of a mass attack I can't withstand. A nuke does wonders on a 30 stack of modern armor, or an aircraft carier full of stealth bombers.

man, in real life you wouldn't see a country waste a nuclear bomb on an aircraft carrier...at least...i wouldn't. But hell, when you can make one every other turn or so, doesn't seem that big of a waste.

In my game, AI just stockpile the nuke and they don't seems to fire at you. However, i've tried fire a nuke to one of the civ (at this time all civs are at peace), once i fired, all civ declared war to me and one civ even fire back a nuke to one of my city!!!

You're wrong. Navies do have nuclear-tipped antiship missiles, nuclear torpedoes, and some countries even tried atomic SAM missiles. Most notably, the Soviets had an air defence system which would kick those incoming B52's off the air. It is, of course, like nuking your own country due to pollution, but it definitely works against large boxes of bombers.

NATo had nuclear landmines spread along the Iron Curtain in Europe, they were intended to stop or slow the unmanageable masses of Soviet "Modern Armor" in a worst case scenario.

NATO also had nuclear artillry rounds, shame the guys firing were in the blast radius and had to take cover in a trench as soon as it was fired. It was soon abandoned.

Perhaps in Civ 4 they could also have some of these "stupid" ideas for research, you know projects that got cancelled along the way. Would be fun to try to use them.

I did get nuked...once...in the late game shortly after I orchestrated a unified world war against the infernal Greeks (who pissed me off once somewhere around 2000BC). After some pretty fair sized tank battles, the Greek front lines started to crumble and I started snatching up their cities one by one. I had taken maybe 25% of their territory when all of the sudden, one turn...the bastards tried to nuke me. Of course, no worries...my trusty laser satellites shot it down. I had 2 ICBMs in the bullpen, but decided not to use them as my tanks were doing fine on their own. As Greece continued to fall and I pushed inward toward their captial, I noticed about 4 or 5 of THEIR cities had been nuked, which leads me to believe that, once Greece saw I had SDI, they lobbed a couple over at the Germans or French or whoever, who then responded in kind.

It's not NUCLEAR, dammit.

I heard our President on the radio last week, and it's definitely pronounced NUCULAR!
