I dont gettit.. ive played right through my first game, i discovered map making... but ive never been given the option to trade maps with my enemys!! what gives?

In Conquests map trading is moved to navigation. It is an optional tech so you can get to modern age without ever having the possibility to trade maps (but when you get sattelites the whole map is revealed ;) )

navigation hey... hmmm so whats the thinking behind them moving it about?

As it was in vanilla everyone would know the entire world when they got to middle ages. By moving it to navigation it does
a) strengthen the expansionist trait by giving them a map advantage that lasts much longer
b) make navigation more popular to research even though it is an optional tech

The same reasons go for communication trades which is now moved to printing press.

it seems conquests has done more than i realised.. might just read that ol' manual it came with...

Also in Conquests, Shakespeare's Theatre also functions as a hospital.
