Nuking capitals and Spaceship?

If you nuke the AI's capital city does their spaceship get destroyed, or do you have to actually take the capital from them?

Nukes don't kill spaceships. However it makes it much easier to conquer cities because it kills half the units and harms the rest. Good deal.

i think nukes should be at least twice as powerful as they are if you can change that on editor please post that for me.
