Hi there guys, i'm new here, and want to first off just say that i am glad to find this place, as i have been playing civ for years (since the original came out on the amiga lol).

what i want to know if there is a way to alter the limit of allowable cities in a game?

I am using civ2: TOT, which is awesome with the ability to use 4 maps at the same time (underworld/seaworld/groundlevel/skyworld simultaenously yahoo!!) on top of this abiluty to use 4 maps, i have laos downloaded and patched in the "no limits.zip" file that lets me go past 320mil people and have way bigger map size and more cash and i think more units too (TOT allows alot more units then civ2 from what i see, Goblins civ in TOT once had like 570+ units WOW! i had fun fighting them in a very long month long battle of attrition).

now i am stuck with a huge map (x4 maps) that i have been playing for a week and only scratched the surface of meeting the Elves (fantasy game obviously), and guess what? i got like 14 cities (1 main HOME ISLAND whichj i love playing with, and a few colinies on 3 nearer contints), the game tells me i cannot build more cities.

so the question: is there a patch or a way to alter the files to let me go past the 255/256/254 or whatever amount of cities that civ2 is limited to?

thnxs in advance, and, if anyone has any TOT specific scenarios i'd love to try them out.

The person who made the "no limits" patches determined that the 255 city limit was imbbedded in two many place to try to alter.

darn, maybe i will e-mail the guy and talk to him more, was hoping there was maybe some other patch that could alter it though.

250 cities is ALOT for SP games....

I would find it boring having to manage all these!

But for Diplo games it particullarly interesting as we could play the extra large maps!

BTW wlecome rajofpsg!

Well for me, with the huge maps i got now, more then 250 cities would be great, could create some real big empires and have some massive wars. One of the things about Civ i like is that it could take a weeks or months to complate a game for me.

Maybe in civ3 it will be able to alter the amount of maximum cities allowable, which might be better since civ3 seems to be a much more immersive game then what we have now even.

I had around 215 cities in my last game and it took along time to take each turn...Would be much quicker if I could have trusted my advisors to do their jobs  It wasn't that bad you just have to be patient nand not pay too much attention to each city.

*L* I spent more time looking at the AI move around my stuffthen I did doin my own thing, although the Ai's turns are becoming suspiciously shorter since I reduced their sizes... ......*L* they don't have much life left, I could wipe them but I like building up my cities for the moment :)
