Hi,
Maybe it would be better to do 5 or 6 units per stack, like Age of Wonders. This worked very well in that game, and might still allow for some of the unit dynamics present in the current model.

Cheers!

No!

I like what they're doing with it. I think it makes strategy more dynamic, and I trust the designers to handle design issues with AI.

Well, I trust their judgement on it too. I'm sure it will work well whatever they do.

One unit per tile is absolutely ideal for a streamlined, quick, and efficient game. It removes the endless clutter of people playing large maps and having to manage like more than 10 cities in previous civ games, or fighting military battles with a large number of units. Indeed, it is suspected that few players in their right minds would attempt to play such "epic" games with a reasonable level of difficulty anymore because the task of managing units in those numbers and at those scales with a new system would be incredibly time consuming. This is all accomplished through the removal of the abstraction of the "simplistic" and "unfun" ability to group units in stacks and send them somewhere. Instead, it gives the player clear, direct, and easily used (and abused) options to outwit the AI in war at almost every juncture, and ensures an additional sense of "balance" and "fairness" where it's difficult for large empires to steamroll and conquer others. Overall allowing for additional focus on enjoyable gameplay.

No i like the way the new combat system is gonna work out. Stacking units belongs to the past. They have to come up with new ways. I think it makes combat that more dynamic with one type of units on one hex. Also because they are including ranged combat, shooting a rain of arrows above the heads of your axemen is gonna be awesome.

stupid noob question that has surely already be answered :
with 1 unit max per hex... how do you guard a tile while allowing your army to pass through ?
If you maintain a border with units, your next in line units can or cannot come to the front ?
